What is the most rediculous thing someone has said to you as a matter of fact about a video game...

"Video games are for kids, when are you going to grow up?"-From my dad, who thought this, until he overheard his co-workers talking about how they love World of Warcraft.
My dad still thinks they're for kids and he can not be reasoned with.

but was completely wrong and you knew it?

EDIT: Please check your spelling guys, the occasional typing error is fine, but please put together a sentence that makes sense, if your not sure, say it out loud, if it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't.

Long question I know.

A buddy of mine said he had a Zelda game for the PS2, I bet him 50$ that he didn't, needless to say, I won the bet.

Similar experiences anyone?
Very similar; people claim Ocarina caused a Split Timeline in the Legend of Zelda series, which then leads to Majora's Mask / Twilight Princess on the "Child" side, and Wind-Waker on the "Adult" side.

Not willing to go into why this is retarded here, but it IS retarded. Linearists have produced comprehensive evidence that proves A) Split Timeline results in total, catastrophic botching of the Adult side, and B) Wind-Waker and Twilight Princess are on the wrong sides, and should be switched.

But no, common sense, the powers of observation or any form of thinking do not apply because some Japanese Bloke who works for Nintendo said Ocarina caused a timeline split, and Twilight is on the 'child' side. Yeah, I'll buy that line when Nintendo release their own Timeline, and explain how Wind-Waker got the Triforce of Courage back that didn't exist in its timeline due to Ocarina.

Close, yet no cigar.

The single most annoying phrase in the entire universe of gaming consists of just four words:

Warhammer rips off Warcraft.

Enough of this "Zelda is a girl" silliness. That's a perfectly understandable error; one naturally assumes that the main character is the one that the game will be named after (I never understood why the series wasn't called "The Legend of Link," myself).

There is no excuse however, for believing that Zelda is the Ocarina of Time.

Let me repeat myself.

ZELDA IS THE OCARINA OF TIME
That is bad.

The reason it is called "The Legend of Zelda" is made known in Zelda II: Adventure of Link. To do a really bad job of summarising it, Zelda is a princess in a cursed sleep (the 'original' Zelda, not a copy). All Hyrulian Princesses are named Zelda in her honour. The game series is essentially a continual re-telling of her Legend, or part of it. Specifically, the bit where some evil villain tries to take her Triforce of Wisdom, and some guy called Link turns up to save her.

Halo is a slightly above average bread and butter space marine game with great music. This does not make it a good game. This merely means it has good music. hell, I listen to the music sometimes by itself because I would rather not have to play the game in order to hear it.
I loved it when people knew what the world "opinion" means.

Kind of hard to invent stuff in Hyrule; if Ganon isn't invading, someone else is. Oh, and sometimes the Gods flood the place for shits and giggles.

I'm sorry, but I honestly don't see what's so groundbreaking, original, innovative or other good words there are about it, other than the music.

Me and some friends are talking about the Metroid series, among other things, and I referred to Samus as "she". One of my friends says "Lol, Samus isn't a girl, retard."

...

The room went dead quite as everyone stared at him. He will never live it down.

You know, I thought that she was a guy for the longest time, but eventually I read something and was set straight.

Why, that's the best time to invent things! In the real world, more stuff gets invented in that kind of situation than anywhen else.

While that's pretty funny, your friend wasn't saying it as a matter of fact so it really doesn't count. If they said "I know you can jump", then that would count.
