What is the most you would spend on a game?

What is the most you can see yourself ever spending on a single game? It can be under any circumstances you can imagine. Is it a new title or an old collectible of limited physical numbers? What game is it? Who developed it? What platform? Is it a collector's edition? If so, what does it come with? What is the most you've ever spent on a single title to date? Why is it worth that much to you? How much would you pay for normal games?

For the sake of discussion, expansions and DLC count toward any overall price and you may consider MMOs seperately to normal games.

Well apparently it's just over 150 dollars for me because I pre-ordered the Skyrim Collector's Edition like some kind of loony person!

Only occasion I'd spend that much though is for really cool swag like that Dragon Statue and an Artbook that looks to have art in it rather then prerendered screenshots and such.

Though, now that I think about it Rockband 2 with all of the peripherals may have been more expensive...

God damn I waste to much money! D=

Oh, I'm Captain Cheapskate, I've only bought San Andreas and GTA4 new on their release days, something like 50 euro each. I remember Gamestop threw in a copy of Intermission with SA, very nice of them although in reality it was probably to save on their bin costs.

For a single game, JUST the game, with nothing added to it, I would (and have) spend around $70.
The most expensive game I have bought to date was SC2 collectors edition, which was $100ish. I am getting the collectors Skyrim in november for $150ish.
For WoW, I am not sure how much in total I paid for it; Vanilla + BC combo for $50ish, Wotlk and Cata for $50 each, and about 2 years worth of game time. I am too lazy to do the math on that, since I bought game cards for the first year or so, and paid 6 month subscriptions till I quit. Maybe $400? $500?

For me, I am willing to pay extra for artwork, DLC, added game features, and occasional statues/figurines.
It really depends on the game, I only get collectors for certain games that I either love to death, or play wayyyy too much.

$300NZ for that damned Halo Reach and Halo 3 collectors editions, and now all they do is collect dust in a corner. I've also spent $110NZ on ME2 collectors edition (plus all of the DLC) which I still happily play today. I also bought Gears 3 for $115NZ last week.

I'm perfectly happy buying brand new at full cost

Add me as one who is paying $150 for Skyrim. It's rare for me to spend so much though. I like to wait for deals. For example, I was waiting for DE:Human Revolution to go on sale and Amazon had it at $35 recently. I couldn't believe it was so cheap already! It's a lot of fun, by the way.

Joys of being Aussie, we get charged up the whazoo for most new releases. $120AUD for the new Zelda (pre-order) for the lady-friend. To answer your question but for a non-collectors new release wouldn't pay more than $80AUD and for Collectors Edition no more than $130AUD

I recently started playing League of Legends. I have put in 300 dollars. In about two months. Sad, yes? Oh well, my skins are sexy.

I don't really care for collectors editions (not a collector :D ) so... I'd only pay $60, since that is how much console games usually cost. I normally purchase for the computer though so it is normally $50. If you start including monthly fees of MMO's I've definitely paid more - but I don't know if that really counts.

The guy at gamestop would say 150$ for Skyrim with a dragon statue and a guide. OH SHIT better bust out the wallet on that AMAZING deal! I mean really, a guide for a game where you should be exploring the world for yourself and a DRAGON STATUE....... really?

Depends. when you look at games with subscription costs and things like XBL and XBLA accounts, you can continuously pay for games passing the (in the US) "arbitrary" amount of 60+ dollars for new games.

Me personally, I can get brand new games for under 10 dollars, so i guess that if i really wanted to.

I usually am not willing to part with more than $40 for a game, I rarely buy retail, I usually end up finding cheaper deals online for games at launch or I wait a week or so there is always some store somewhere that drops the price on some deal.

I pay what I think it's worth...no more, no less.

>.> I usually pay full cost though. Unless i've tried it, and was disappointed, then I'll find it for cheaper.

Well, fortunately, I have a LOT of disposable income and exactly one (monthly) bill to pay. As such, $50-$60 isn't always such a tall order, though I do tend to look for <$40 deals whenever I can.
On the other hand, if a game has a collectors edition with stuff that I actually care about, not just a book of concept art and a notepad with more concept art on it, then I'll probably pay upwards of $90-$100. Mind you, I haven't seen a collector's edition yet that appealed to me enough to make me shell out the extra cash.
In an ideal world, the collector's edition of Warcraft IV will come with a big awesome epic poster, about 8-12 metal miniatures of characters from the lore, a DVD of the production of the game, a music CD, and just for the hell of it, the game itself will include audio commentary and/or pop-up commentaries on the different missions and what may be found in them. And, I don't know, some kind of trinket that would make Warcraft fans squee, like a goblet or something. Total price: $120. And I would buy that.

The most I've ever spent on a game is WoW, which I quit right before WotLK came out. So... that's like $80 for vanilla and $80 for BC and ~$150 a year on subscription... So like $600 I guess. Still a whole lot cheaper than what I was spending on my gaming hobby before then. And since.

These days, because of the incredible value I can get out of buying older games, I find it hard to even spend AUD$50 on a game.

I won't buy DLC unless it's
a) For a game I loved and finished
and
b) Good value for money... so it either needs to be very cheap (a few dollars) or have a fair amount of content

So that is an extremely rare occurrence (hasn't happened yet outside of Magicka: Vietnam)

I refuse to play MMOs simply because if I find one I like it's going to be a massive money pit.
