Everyone's played Pong, but the oldest game I have a particular affinity for is NetHack.
Ah, NetHack...

I still feel bad about accidentally eating that cat. XD

Since discussion here seems to concentrate on newer releases, I thought it would be interesting to find out some of the oldest games that people have played. I don't mean the first game that you played (although it could well be the same), but the game that was released longest ago.

For me, it would be "Jetpac" on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum, which Wikipedia tells me was released in 1983.
Joust on the Atari, or....Joan of Arc on the Amiga.

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back for the Atari 2600. It was released in '82, but I wasn't old enough to play video games until '86 or so, so there you go.

My very first computer (that can be called computer, I don't count hand-held Tetris) was a Commodore Plus/4 which most of you doesn't even know existed, since it was a total flop in the US but mildly popular in Europe, mostly in Hungary. It was designed to replace the C64, but ultimately fell short in some areas. You can find more info HERE.

Since I got my Plus/4 in 1985, most of my first ever games are from that period, like Paperboy, Loco-Coco, Jet Set Willy, Karate King, Treasure Island, Apollo Rescue but the great majority of games were Hungarian. Since the console was mostly popular here, the great majority of games for the Plus/4 is either made by Hungarians, Germans or ported (hacked) by Italians from other consoles. My memory is a little hazy (it was, like, 20 years ago), but I remember I had lost of fun with that compy.

If you want some more info, there is a Plus/4 portal with info, programs, games n stuff at the Plus/4 World website. You can download most of the games and play it with an emulator and you can even play some of them online!

Gosh, I'm old...
