I have been a smoker for 11 years now. I have never wanted to quit

I started smoking at the same time i started drinking and then it was cool
I later justified my smoking as a stress release
Currently I smoke when I am bored, but i think that if i did quit the withdrawal would cause me to kill someone.

to any replies please note i do not encourage other people to smoke, please do not try to stop me from smoking

People who smoke cigarettes are idiots, you smoke things to get high, but most people that I know who smoke don't get high at all. If you're going to smoke, at least smoke the good stuff. That being the case, habitual smokers are still idiots because they are killing themselves. Sure it could be to de-stress, but won't you be twice as stressed when you find out you have holes in your lungs or lung cancer etc. etc.?

From what I can tell, it does actually calm you down. I don't smoke myself, but I think people should be allowed to. If they want to, they want to, simple as that.

Yeah, but I do have a problem with smoke. It makes me sneeze and makes my eyes water, even if I'm just in the same room as someone who is smoking. See, I wouldn't care if it didn't affect me, but it does. Plus the halls at my school smell like smoke all the time and it makes me sick.

I say if someone wants to smoke, let them. It's not like they don't know what they're doing to themselves. Calling someone an idiot for something they enjoy doing seems a bit.. ignorant.

I realize this, I'm just saying, why would you smoke something that doesn't have equal rewards as its consequences. I'm not going to get on somebody's ass about it. I have plenty of friends that smoke. But some of them smoke stuff that actually gets you a real high, so to me, it is easier to understand.

I never intended to insult anyone, and I never said that people who smoke are stupid. I'm just wondering why people smoke.

Look, i've smoked before so I know what it's like and it's not my thing, but that doesn't mean I should be all up in a smokers face for smoking just because I don't think they should smoke. Theirs these two girls at my college, they are proper good girls, don't smoke or drink, don't think they've ever been drunk, and they WILL have a go at anyone who they see smoking or drinking, and I believe that's just wrong. Don't criticise something you've never tried and if you don't ever want to try it, don't have a go at people who's choice it is to try or not. it's their choice to make, let them choose.

I have never played games, nor do I plan to, so I can't wrap my head around why anyone would want to. I can understand doing because you're addicted to it, but why would you subject yourself to all the mindless flashes of lights to begin with? The only reason that I can think of to pick up gaming is to make you feel cool.

Taste, relaxation, that little feeling that you receive in your head , the feeling you receive in your lungs (depending on what kind of tobacco you take), etc.

Although, don't smoke to get addicted. Smoke to get quality and and appreciation.

It was definitely not to look cool in my case.

My 1st smoke was a joint, and I eventually got addicted to the tobacco.

I think it's a stupid habit and I regret starting, but hey at least it's not heroin or something.

I used to do it because it was a great stress relief for the days I'd have to sit in a chair for 4-6 hours at work. It also broke up the monotony.

Thankfully I quit a while ago.

When I think about it, that's what my aunt and uncle told me when I asked them why they started smoking. It was a way to relieve stress for them.

I used to smoke weed which I get cos it actually has an effect on you but cigarettes? Not a clue. I guess people just think they look cool, and my mates who smoke say it calms their nerves but I don't buy it, just think it makes them fucking stink
