All the dating threads seems relevant to put one up.
Not for bad reasons, just the ones that hurt.
What is the strangest/rudest/coldest reason broke up with you?

"Because daddy doesn't like you and I'm all hes got"

I've only broken up with someone once, and it was because she had to move.

I've never had a bad break-up; they've all been mutual. I've been lucky (though it's also because I've never dated a psycho batsh!t crazy chick, either).

Same. Precisely the same, in fact, every word of it. Are we twins?

I had someone break up with me on MSN, because 'Mum thinks I can do better, your family isn't exactly... well off, is it?'

A few people here have asked me that. I'm going to go with "no", until I can get the real answer out of my parents. :)

I was with my ex for around 6 months before a friend told me she had been cheating on me. So after some investigating, I found out she had been cheating on me with on of my best friends. She tried to apologise to me, I basically told her to fuck off.

Ah good times. But now I'm in the best relationship of my life, so it's all gravy.

Well about two years ago I broke up with my first girlfriend. Everything was fine and dandy even though she was heart broken she understood that I wasn't happy in the relationship. Thought everything was going smoothly. Then her cousin FREAKS THE FUCK OUT and threatens to beat the shit out of me. I mostly ignored him and then I moved away and lost contact with the crazy asshole.

Two years later I hanging out with a friend of mine that knows him and she told him that she was going to be hanging out with me and he says to her "Take me to him. I'm going to kill him." so it took her like twenty minutes to convince him to go away and leave me alone. But he still wants to kill me.

Just after my 18th birthday, my then-girlfriend and I were supposed to be starting a new life together.
"This isn't going to work in the long term. We both know that (actually at the time, I was very naive so I didn't). We're going to have to go our separate ways."

And so began the longest 7 hour journey back to my parents that I've ever endured. Alone.

However in hindsight it would've been a colossal mistake to go through with it. I'm happy with where I am now, rather than where I could've been now.

Wait, whoa. So, the reason I've been wondering is that I noticed many similarities between us - the Pokemon playing, the hometown, being Blue Jays fans. I just looked at your profile to find out more, and it seems I know you IRL. You're Matthew Parkinson, and you're in my Humanities class!

Good luck on Monday's multiple-choice test - Alex

OT: Nothing here seems to be as bad as, say, a bad divorce or violent breakup. Maybe we Escapists are better at having non-violent breakups, or perhaps having fewer relationships means you're likely to have fewer nasty breakups? According to the dating threads, many of us here tend to be nice but not very social. Anyone want to provide evidence for or against my theory?

Must be right, expected something more... well different, guess i expected more to have been dumped in a rude manner than actually have.

Fucked if I know. When I have a break up, I immediately drink a lot, and keep going for....mmm...a month or so? :p

As a result, I don't remember much about my various break ups...

Last one dumped me on facebook for my (at the time) best friend.

She said we "weren't connecting" didn't really think much of it but that's about the worst way a lady dropped the bomb on me when it came to breakups.

Been broken up with one girl ever, and that was, according to her, because of my sexuality. She doesn't mind bisexuals, unless she's dating them apparently.

I think I'm a fairly good piece of evidence for your argument.
It's been said I'm a very nice person, and should get out more, but I'm not what'd you'd call a sociable type.
I spend more time on the weekend playing games than doing what a normal teenager does on the weekend (go out to the movies, go socialise in general)
I don't think we can really disprove your theory, it seems fairly correct, if not totally on the money.

Also, what are the odds that you'd meet a person you know, let alone have them in your Humanities class?!?!?!
I sense something very weird at work here...

Oh good grief....coming inches off a knock-down drag out fight in the middle of Manchester on a Pride night having caught my then partner playing tonsil hockey with some *****.

The screaming pushy-shovy fest in public was not my finest hour.
