i thought of this when i was replaying resident evil 2 when you first encountered the licker it sounded so stupid when i first played RE2 but anyway what do you think is the worst enemy name?
Back in the day, when Resi 2 was popular and after my friend and I were immensely freaked out from the first "licker" encounter (running across the window), we decided to call them "slashers", because that's what they do more than anything.

Felt strange having to repeatedly say "licker".

I'd say the worst name I've seen was in the Last Remenant, one of your chars had a weapon called the Gae Bolg (pronounced Gay Bolg). Really Square Enix?? You guys need to work on your translations.

Edit: oops not an enemy's name but still pretty horrid to say the least.
Indeed, for as much as Japanese mediums seem to love referencing mythology that has nothing to do with themselves, they get a lot wrong. Apparently it's pronounced "ga bool'ga".
It seems like with Japanese games, the problem is often having to localize names that have already been translated from an European language into katakana. Words often end up altered in order to fit into their writing systems and someone translating it to English may not realize what they're looking at. I'm always amused by things like the "Mangosh" in Suikoden 2 that's a mistranslation of "Main Gauche."

Skags in Borderlands. I had finished reading Trainspotting not long before playing it. In Trainspotting skag is slang for heroin.

Demons Souls has 2 golden ones if your mind was in the gutter like mine was at the time:
1) Dirty Colossus
2) Penetrator (this one sounded rather unpleasant)

The Combine.
They should have a real name, like the Gargs or Yorps or something.

Bubbleman. All the names you could have chosen, all sort of water-related enemies who come in later Megaman games, and you choose Bubbleman. Not Waterman, not Diverman, not Hydroman, not Seaman, not any of the other (Water-related thing)man that come later in the series. Bubbleman.

Gabbledegak from FFVI. Presumably a mistranslation of 'Gobbledygook' used for advanced Goblins in several other Final Fantasies. Up to you which one sounds stupider.

Gravedorcus. Go ahead, just try and figure out what it is from the name. Done? Okay. It's actually an undead dolphin-looking creature that swims through sand.

Good job Square Enix
Yeah? Well FFXIII has several slime enemies called flans. So far, so normal.

Then, later in the game you encounter flans wearing helmets and presumably doing maintenance work. What are they called?

Flanitors.

In Majora's Mask, the bosses are named Odolwa, Goht, Gyorg, and Twinmold. And their full titles, which the game actually displays immediately before you fight them, are "Masked Jungle Warrior Odolwa," "Masked Mechanical Monster Goht," "Gargantuan Masked Fish Gyorg," and "Giant Masked Insect Twinmold."

Well, y'can probably see why they didn't do that...
That didn't help in Yu Yu Hakusho.

OT: Zeromus. Really, Final Fantasy 4? You couldn't think of something better for your already sub-par Giant Space Flea From Nowhere who's smack dab in one of the most irritating final dungeons ever of your already sub-par game? What is it with Square every four games, anyway? Some of the love is lost or something. So yeah, Zeromus, because the last guy was originally Zemus. Imaginative.

I always found Yoshi Island to have some weird named bosses.

Tap Tap the Rednosed.
Burt the Bashful. (A clown defeated when you knock off his pants, sigh.)
Sluggy the Unshaven.
