By far the worst one I ever heard was 'Evildoer' from that Batman meets Mortal Kombat disgrace on the Mega Drive/Genesis. How bad does the design department have to be to come up with Evildoer?

The monsters in Dragon Warrior Monsters get pretty far out. You fight everything from Gulpples and Goopies to Curselamps and Madcandles. It never felt ridiculous when I was 7, though.

I first read that as mancandles, which would be an AWESOME name for an enemy

I'd say the worst name I've seen was in the Last Remenant, one of your chars had a weapon called the Gae Bolg (pronounced Gay Bolg). Really Square Enix?? You guys need to work on your translations.

Edit: oops not an enemy's name but still pretty horrid to say the least.

I dunno "spear of mortal death" sounds pretty cool to me. It's a spear from Irish mythology.

Also, as other people have mentioned translating from a foreign language to Japanese to English is bound to have some spellings boggled up somewhere.
