Seriously? You're going to sit there with a straight face and tell us Halo 3 is the worst game you've played? Not the most overrated or the most disappointing but the absolute worst game that you have ever played? (Ok, "recently" for ColdStorage.)

Either you have been amazingly lucky in your gaming life or you need to get down off that fucking bandwagon.

Obviously a lot of people like Halo, but for those who don't like it, it's an average game: not apocalyptically bad, just overrated. Sure it has deficiencies - all games do. But no amount of muddy storytelling, repetitive Flood levels and "bloom turned up too bright" could put it within ten miles of games like Big Rig Racing, ET, Shaq Fu, Superman 64, Bomberman: Act Zero, Ninjabread Man, Spider-Man 3 or any movie-licensed game ever created (except Goldeneye). And maybe you've never played any of those games or any of the thousand other irredeemably broken, pointless, frustrating, insulting or unplayable titles out there, but if you insist Halo 3 is the worst game you've ever encountered then I'm calling you a liar and a sheep.

And now comes the part where you write me off as a Halo fanboy or say "I'm entitled to my opinion" because I'm refusing to let you call one of the most popular and highly-rated games of all time the worst game ever.
Well said! People bashing these newer games they didn't like because it's 'cool' to do so are irritating. From an objective standpoint, these games WORK. You put the game in the tray, and they work. Subjective quibbles aside, there is no way that you can honestly think these are worse than games that were simply impossible, or nearly impossible due to horrible broken controls and nigh-impossible tasks.

That said, one game that really hurt was called Loadstar (I think, it's been a long time). It was fun to play, there were very good for the time cutscenes with live actors in them, but there was a saddening glitch where once you beat the first level it would never unlock the second and onwards. I spent DAYS trying to work out a way around this, because I LOVED the first level so much, but I never could.

(Big Rigs was actually released in a pre-alpha stage: it's what happens when the marketing people get impatient with the programmers. From an interview with one of the programmers, he said that they hadn't even gotten close to done the alpha.)

It doesn't mean it's great, but it's better than a game that doesn't work. Have you NEVER played a game that was completely broken? If so I'll echo the guy whose post I quoted and say that you have been very, very lucky.

I have shadow of collosus that doesn't work, possibly owing to the DVD being fucked at the manufacturing process, I hear its a fucking amazing game though.

No I dont play games that are broken, I dont spend money on something that might not work properly, or something that doesn't appeal to me, I bought an Xbox360 and Halo3thinking i'd be just as good as Halo 1, and I found it so crap I gave the Xbox to my nephew.

Funny thing is, he broke the disc, but he's found other people willing to give him Halo 3 because they found it average, I merely found it shit.

I like the poster you quoted though, Fazer is it?, he calls other people sheep for not likng a game that is universally loved, chortle chortle i say.

No. One thing newer games don't do is "WORK" (which you put in capital letters for some reason). The PS 1 and PS 2 platforms had literally thousands of games. Tell me just one game of theirs that needed a patch? Just one. Or just one with a game breaking bug.

Now, out of the current crop of games, name me just one which hasn't had a patch.

Games are getting worse, not better.

Games are getting better in some ways (length, graphics, sound, etc.) but I can understand what you mean and I agree.

The worst game I ever played was without doubt, Seven Samurai 20XX, I have nightmares about that game.

Final Fantasy X-2.
Crappy story, stupid dress level system thing, unlikeable characters designed purely to titillate the 13 year old hentai-loving weaboo demographic, and the most unbearable dialogue since... Well since Final Fantasy X now I think about it. God it was like watching an episode of Lucky Star.

The games was only made to cash in on the success of FF X so everybody should have known that it would be bad. It's still better than other FF games.

PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE WITH ME ARE WRONG!!!1

I think people are just recalling recent games they've played that they felt were 'bad' or unenjoyable, and not necessarily the worst game they've encountered in their life. As someone mentioned in the thread earlier, you don't often remember the horrible games for long as you don't play them that much. Recalling a recent game one did not enjoy seems like a semi-reasonable response to this thread to me.

I like to buy things on steam when they go on sale if they look like they might be interesting, and for some reason I decided to buy 'Overlord' which probably is not the worst game ever, or the worst I've ever encountered, but definitely disappointed me greatly and didn't hook me in any real way. I also don't get hooked by nintendo's main franchises because they seem repetative and unoriginal to me at this point (ie Mario 48 and Zelda 22 and Metroid 12 or whatever iteration those games are on).
