Possible that EternalNothingness made more threads than actual posts.
Wait...what? That...that hurts my brain so much.

OT: Yeah, I gotta agree about EternalNothingness. What the fuck is his deal with Sonic anyway? I mean a few of the games suck, but they're getting better, substantially even.

While I'm not going to name the op but the thread he made was just pointless, something to do with a hamster and it was just plain random. He feel it's perfectly fine to make random threads to raise a smile but sorry there's a different at making a funny thread and making a thread with proper dicussion values to it.

We really shouldn't go and target an individual and go about insulting them. If you dislike someone, you can ignore them (there's an ignore function on the forums here, even) or politely and respectfully approach them and explain how you feel they could improve on their contributions to the site. Taking a stab at someone in jest is a little iffy from the start, but repeating the exact same sentiment and idea as whatever was just posted by multiple people above you is not what the Escapist is about, no matter if we're talking about posting habits, CoD, or favorite drink recipes.

And remember, if someone is consistently a detriment to the community, the mods or staff will address the issue.

The various "Why all the hate?" and rant threads that crop up around high profile releases. Like MW3 for instance, I still hate the game, but not with justfiable drive to post threads or on threads about it.

Yeah, I didn't intend to put this Eternal guy into so much hot water. Now I kinda feel bad creating this thread haha, my intent wasn't to target the authors of bad threads, just the types of bad threads themselves.

I'll have to agree with EternalNothingness' threads, that was the first thing I thought of coming in here. Almost all of them criticize the stories in games and then have shameless plugs of "creative and original" characters to fish for compliments.

Nothing against him personally, but it was already uncalled for, and by the third time...

He's only detrimental to the community with his zillions of threads. They're unnecessary but they're not mod worthy. He'll make a thread asking why one plays as a rogue. Two minutes later, he'll make a thread about why one plays as a mage. Five minutes later, he'll make a thread about why one plays as a tank. The forums will be cluttered with tons of his threads, when only one would actually be sufficient. Many have brought this to his attention, but he just continues to ignore and threads away.

All those 'The last A you B in a game is now C' threads
The last food item you consumed in Peggle is now violently buggering your cat to death! What do you do?!

OT: I got kinda bored of the forums, so I'm not here much anymore, and whenever I am it's always the same few threads over and over and over with just the bare bones changed. Some people hate something, some others ask why all the hate on that thing as if it weren't explained clearly in the original thread, some shoehorned-in Yahtzee quotes and an absolutle fuckton of "favourite/least favourite" polls. The worst, however, have to be the ones with absolutely zero discussion value - "Post what you had for lunch!", "If the user above you was punching your grandmother into a paste, why would it taste like raspberry?", or probably the worst I've seen, "What is your age?".

Seriously, where's the conversation there? Holy shit, I can't believe that guy is 17! Holy fuck my entire worldview has been shaken to the core! How will I live with myself now?

I am going to make this thread. There is no way it cannot become a huge success.

I think I've developed a mental block for any thread with the word 'Avatar' in the title. 'You vs Your Avatar: Who Would Win?' 'Your Avatar is now you!' and all those. I just file all of them with my childhood memories and forget they exist.

Also - anything about Skyrim. I'm as excited for the game as the next guy, but most of the threads are redundant.

Wanna place bets on how long it takes for someone to respond with "LOL dood u dont get fud in peggle, ur so dum n00b"? Or at least, the slightly better spelled version, as the Escapist doesn't have too many of the real barrel-scrapings that litter other, more eye-rapingly ugly forums.

I couldn't find a specifically useless thread, but here are a few suggestions:

Spam threads: I've seen a couple where the OP states something that's so freaking ridiculous that it can't *not* be flame bait, and does it in all caps, for good measure. "LIKE, LOL, SKYRIM SUCKS! GO PLAY UR XBOX 750 INSTEAD, ITS SO HOT!!!ONE!"

Something of that persuasion, usually.

AITOO threads: no. You're never the only one with a specific opinion. Shut the fuck up and use the Search bar.

Drunk threads: you're drunk, dude. You don't have any reason or excuse to post when you're drunk. Shut the fuck up and go sober up. Then we'll talk.

Brony defense threads: okay, so the show's fun! Yes, some people will not appreciate it, unfortunately! Grow the Hell up and accept that fact!

Brony-bashing threads: see above, exact same reasoning. Grow up, people have their quirky interests and you can't do a damn thing about it.

Reductionist or Ad Hominem threads: flat-out stating that Anime sucks without providing any argument to back your condemnation up removes any and all credibility you might have. Racist asshats and religious nutjobs and/or intolerants need not apply, as well. This also includes the three billion "People are stupid and I am a misanthrope" threads out there.

Piracy threads: yes, people crack games. Yes, plenty of this very site's excellent peeps have or still do use cracks to this day. No one will ever 'fess up to it, if they aren't morons. Arguing the why or how of it is pointless. Thievery is as old as prostitution, if not older still. Nabbing something without paying for it will always be easier. There is no debate possible on this matter. Get over it.

Oh, and while we're at it? The Escapist is not Demonoid or The Pirate Bay. Idiots who steer piracy threads into sly attempts at mooching for cracks or serials or whatnot are shooting themselves in the foot. Do not bother, you WILL be suspended or banned for doing so.

Meme threads: I don't care about what happens when my Xbox Live avatar gets CQC'ed by Solid Snake! Why do you even want to know?! Why do some people consider threads like these to be fun?!

This is absolutely beyond me.

EternalNothingness' threads: having searched for his profile, I can agree. Oh God, yes. He's The Escapist's runner-up for an equal to That Guy With The Glasses' TheAwesometeer.

Y'know, the one guy who posts absolutely EVERYWHERE every fucking day, but never to add anything substantial?

And yes, this very thread indeed. Decrying the uselessness of threads is in itself useless, as people will always be drawn to useless shit, because it's a mode of personal expression and in posting useless shit, people feel validated or vindicated as individuals. "Hey, lookit me, I posted THAT thread! I sure do hope I get some interesting replies, or else my Ego meter's going to take a drop!"

We're all like this. Each and every one of us, whether we admit it or not. We're navel-gazing monkeys all chirping and screeching to get a cookie in the form of extra replies or badges, and we like it that way.

Charming, isn't it?
