Archdemon from Dragon Age:Origins.

Pretty hard boss considering i had to spam a ballista for 20 minutes hoping it would swamp me with dark spawn

Awesome on every level, especially getting there and beating it after tons of attempts as a seven year old.

Most fun? Stallord from Twilight Princess.

Most epic? Fighting Xenmas for the first time in Kingdom Hearts 2. Something about running down a skyscraper to meet him halfway and proceeding to completely obliterate his face with the right timing was something I dream of recreating in an MMO game.

The Sa-Matra from Star Control 2.

Don't tell me it wasn't a boss fight.
how in dear god's name did you get that far?!

I always got demolished by the freaking khor-ah while trying to get more minerals and a decent fleet

Despite the insane difficulty of just reaching the battle, let alone winning (f*** Youmu up the arse with her own sword), everything about it just clicks in a way that's hard to describe.

Mass Effect 2. HAAAAH kidding. Seriously, put those pitchforks away.

Realistically.. well, shit. I went through every game I can own, and it turns out I just don't like many games with proper final bosses. Fallout 3 did well--but that was more of an end sequence than a boss. I really can't come up with anything, so in order to be productive to the thread, let me just list Mass Effect, like the despickable little fanboy that I am. The bit with Saren at the end was really well done.

The game can be a bit unforgiving to the unprepared. First priority is getting your ship upgraded and make a beeline for Arilou space and do their quest. Trust me. You don't really need a strong fleet in the way you're probably thinking. Spathi can kick ur-quan and khor-ah ass every day of the week as long as you're not careless. And for the love of god keep the 4 Pkunk ships they give you and never use them until the final battle. Those two are really the only ones you need, your flagship and everyone else can be used for minor conflicts until you get the big guns for your flagship. Then it becomes a matter of just knowing where to go

Basically, you grind tech and info from the Melnorme. Load up on cargo bays and crew, strip-mine systems with decent mineral resources, and let your escort ships do the fighting. Getting Orz and Spathi allies makes this easier, since they're more dependable than the old Earth Cruisers. Having the portal spawner helps a LOT.

Re: the Sa-Matra fight - you don't absolutely need to keep the Pkunk ships if you've started a certain revolution before you started the endgame and manage to lose at least a few ships fighting the Sa-Matra guardians (which is inevitable).

just because I'm having trouble thinking of one... the part in Bioshock 2 when you fight 2 big sisters at once!

It was my first playthrough and I was on the hardest difficulty...

...it was pretty fucking epic...
