Lethal Weapon, Batman Returns, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Rambo: First Blood and The Last Boy Scout. Curled up on the couch in front the tv with a nice 15yo bottle of scotch, watching cars & villains crackle in flames.... ah, christmas.
for every other aspect of the holiday... BAH HUMBUG!!!!!
It isn't a Christmas movie at all, but Clerks is my Christmas movie. I watched it when I was 13 on Christmas Eve, and it has become my unofficial Christmas movie, I watch it every year.
But, if I have to have a Christmas Movie, I'd probably say Gremlins.
Also tied for favorite musical. Every song is memorable, the animation is stunning, and the story and setting is just unlike anything else... ever. Love it!
The Muppets Christmas Carol and The Polar Express.
It wouldn't be Christmas without them. I can't remember a year I haven't watched The Muppets Christmas Carol, it was such a huge part of my childhood.
I remember the first time watching The Polar Express. My thought's were 'This...this is Christmas. The magic and joy and wonder of Christmas never dying and staying with you as an adult.' Such an amazing film.
Incidentally, did you all know that Mae Questel, who plays the slightly dotty Aunt Bethany, was a voice actress in the 1930s? She voiced Betty Boop and Olive Oyl!
Hold up, hold up, how has no-one mentioned The Snowman yet?
My personal movie, however, is Small Soldiers, which for some bizarre reason was always on in the UK around Christmas time. It's the film I most associate with Christmas, but I'll also always have a soft spot for The Snowman...
Gotta love Die Hard!
What doesn't say Christmas like beating the ever loving shit out of some terrorists? It's the christmas movie you can enjoy any day of the year without it feeling too seasonal!
