After reading this thread am I massive dick for hoping Shyrim is going to be a turd and destroy the hopes and dreams of millions?

Well, I'm going to be among the major minority here, but I'm gonna say Ace Combat: Assault Horizon should be GOTY. Of course, not many are going to think so as it's an action packed flight sim with a good story and amazing music. (only conjecture based on past AC games as AH isn't out yet, but the vids look awesome)

Too early to tell I'd love to know but right now many of the big games of the year aren't out yet Deus Ex is off being invisible, Skyrim is still being smelted in the furnace of the gods, Saints Row is off being unreleased and although they certainly won't be MY game of the year Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 are off in the corner fighting over who has cooler guns or at least their parents are fighting I'm looking at you EA and Activision.

There are quite a few games on my 'possible contender' list, but they don't count because they haven't been released yet. (Something all of you should keep in mind.

Out of this year's games that have actually come out already, I've got to go with Portal 2. Huuuuge fun, and ever since I've played it I'm obsessed with fact spheres and combustible lemons.
Second place (so far) goes to Crysis 2, and third would be InFamous 2.

Well, so far it's going to have to be L.A. Noire. Loved the gameplay, story was very good, but could have been better. Overally though, fantastic game.
That being said, I am getting very excited about Arkham City and Saints Row The Third. Personally, I can't imagine how Arkham City isn't going to be one of my favourite games ever; I absolutely loved Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City just looks like it's taking everything from the previous game and making it even better.
