Why hello fellow Escapistees? Escapistanians? Escap- Oh whatever, let's get to the point.

I am getting a new phone soon with a lot of memory which opens up the possibility of more music.
I want to add other artists into my library other then the ones I currently have ( Which is Coldplay, and more Coldplay)

So suggest me some bands/artists, and tell me what your favorites are. (I prefer actual music, not things like dubstep and the likes. It has to be with actual instruments, not someone who holds their microphone next to his/her washing machine and calls it "dubstep")
So, let's get this party started! :D

EDIT:
First off, the washing machine thing was a joke. I still don't think that it requires a lot of talent though, although I have respect for people who make it, and have no problems with people who listen to it. The reason I don't think it requires much talent is because in my opinion anyone can push a couple of buttons and put some sounds together on a computer. That doesn't make it music. And once again to clarify, this is all my opinion.

I adore Arcade Fire and can confidently say that they are one of the better bands of the 21st century. They are especially brilliant live in my opinion.
Also I feel obliged to say Flight of the Conchords (if they count).

Priestess
And also of course some Hendrix

Kasabian - Best thing from Leicester ever.

Tunes Ahoy!- Ijust wrote tunes I feel so dirty and chav like.
There's more awesomeness but I'm going off

My number 1 is most definiantly bowling for soup.
I love them and they make me very happy whenever I listen to them

My second favourite would be a japanese band called One OK Rock.
They're awesome and do a cool mix of english and japanese lyrics

I feel like I sell them a mite too often, but the correct answer here is White Lies.

Personally, I find Coldplay to be the musical equivalent of eating cardboard, but what the hey.

If I had to pick one... I'd probably go with Fleetwood Mac. Partially because I'm getting the early Peter Green (before he quit and lost his marbles) stuff:
And the later stuff with Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham:
I can't say that I always listen to them, I remember my parents playing it all when I was younger and I always come back to it, it's all so damn good!

My other favourite band right now is Every Time I Die...
The video is a bit disturbing too, before you watch it.

Very hard decision, but either In Flames or Cradle of Filth.
If I knew how to include a video of each I would...

I'm going to be unoriginal and just go with The Beatles. Can't think of any other band that I've listened to for nearly as long that I can listen to at any time and fully enjoy.

Second and third would be a difficult choice between Electric Six and Muse. Further than that I haven't considered.

Well, there are three bands that I would call "favourite", and I simply can't choose between them as to a top. They're nothing like Coldplay though, so I doubt you'll find much in them. Still, I'll post a song each anyway.

Make of it what you will.

White Lies are a poor man's Editors, who are in themselves a poor man's Interpol. They are also one of the most charmless bands I've ever seen live.

OT: The Flaming Lips

Just as I was first getting into music, they had released The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song. It really stood out on the radio against all the guitar bands that were around at the time. They were the first band that I got really into MYSELF and wasn't just what everyone else was listening to. The weirdness really spoke to me. I've enjoyed all their albums and they have little spots in the narrative of my life. Seeing them play The Soft Bulletin album the whole way through was the best live experience of my life (one word: giant hamster ball). No other band puts as much effort into shows as they do and Wayne Coyne is one of the most charismatic frontmen I've ever seen.

I believe you have it the wrong way round - Interpol are a poor man's Editors, Editors are a poor mans's White Lies, and White Lies are a poor man's Joy Division.
However, White Lies have been brilliant the 3 times I've seen them live, from tiny concert hall to stadium to festival...

The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song is brilliant though. It's like the Chicken Dance with a political theme, and is guaranteed to be on a countryside walk playlist!

I've not seen a single live performance of them when they are not stood completely still looking mopey.

Interpol were first and kicked off the whole post-punk revival thing. By looking at the timeline, you can't deny that Editors took their chops from Interpol and White Lies took their chops from Editors. When Interpol came on the scene, they may not have been playing completely new sounds, but they were playing music that hadn't been heard much in about 10 years. By the time White Lies came around we had been swimming in 80s sounds for nearly as long as the 80s had been.

Interpol are far the more acclaimed band, Metacritic rates their first 2 albums as 81 and 80, whereas White Lies are languishing down at 58 to 60. Turn on the Bright Lights got onto the best albums of the 00s lists by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME and Stylus.

On the Flaming Lips: Yea, its a shame they don't just write songs called Death.
The album The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song is off is the weakest album of their career, I even admit to myself that I never really listen to it. However, for me it had the merit of turning me onto their other work. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, The Soft Bulletin and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart are all amazing albums.

Live performance is not all about movement... The lead singer's voice carries over incredibly well into a live performance, and they're actually really very good at getting a crowd going.

I won't deny that Interpol came first out of the three. This does not make them the best though, and I find very little of interest in the way of stand-out hooks or songs from them.

As to taking their chops from other bands, having listened to radio interviews with them, they often claim the Talking Heads as a big influence. Here's a quote from their lead singer about their musical influences: "We weren't alive during that period of music...we've never really been that into Joy Division, especially not the Editors...or even Interpol really."
"I don't think our music sounds a whole lot like those comparisons, I think we're a lot more euphoric and uplifting"

Ignore Metacritic here - those Interpol scores are based on just 4 critic reviews. We can hardly call this a general opinion.

Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, and the Foo Fighters.

I really like thrash metal, and I really like the Big 4. The Foo Fighters have really great tunes that go along with a lot of things, whether it be sports, easy listening, or parties. It also seems like they have never been bad, like ever.
