At any given time, it's a toss-up between Watership Down and House of Leaves when it comes to solo novels. And the Joe Pitt Casebooks by Charlie Huston automatically win if I go by series of books, quite possibly the best modern vampire fiction ever. Each one's brutal and darkly hilarious, with a rich cast of characters. The perfect remedy for anyone who hates those Twilight books.

the darren shan vampire saga was good, so was the demonata series
and im a huge fan of the drizzt books so they are a very close 2nd

but my favourite series has to be gaunts ghosts by dan abnett
its gritty, the action is heart racing (being chased in a truck by a robotic werewolf anyone) and is epic, despite being about one of the smallest legions in the 40k universe in a campaign that doesnt even feature in the main stories of the universe

My favorite single book is The Hobbit, and of course I love damn near everything that Tolkien wrote.

Right now I'm interested in Here There Be Dragons, which I can't seem to find time for.

I pretty much worship The Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. I've heard it compared to the A Song of Fire and Ice series a bit so if you like those then check it out.

Books I really enjoyed:

Carrie by Stephen King
The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by Tolkien
Most of the Forgotten Realms books I've read so far and I still have to read one of those by R.A. Salvatore.

Didn't you find Qvothe an insufferable bastard? I sure did.
He was far too nice for my tastes, if that's what you're asking.
But clever.

I don't really mind slice-of-life-esque stuff.
You ever read The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever? The main dude is a total asshole, and in the first book he rapes some girl that helped him willingly. He is a bastard for everyone in a land that only exist good and evil. And that the villain is bat-shit insane..in the good way.

Anyway, hope the folowing books of Rothfuss trilogy get better editing. Name of the Wind could have got one and cut down some pages.

I'm going to go with the Dirk Pitt Series of novels by Clive Cussler, they have provided me with many an hour of entertainment and intrigue.

Right now I am reading "The Blending" series by Sharon Greene and it's amazing. I'd have to say my favourite series is "The Incarnations of Immortality" by Piers Anthony.

Probably Stephen Kings - The Stand
The book is so much better than the movie series.

I'm also listening to Ron Paul's - End the FED (audiobook). This is a great book so far!
