Star Fox Adventures, SSB Melee (which gameplay-wise, I think was better than Brawl), and Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. Yeah, I was a Gamecube nerd. That was my first system that wasn't shared with my older sister.

I'm going to have to say Star Fox Assault. The gameplay is great, the music is great, the story is iffy at times, but is still pretty good, and splitscreen. DEAR GOD THE SPLITSCREEN! I love it!

Best thing about threads like these is the nostalgia you feel when you see people put down games you haven't thought about for year... Better times haha

OT: Has to be MGS3, the Splinter Cell series or the Jak games. My adolescence summed up right there.

For the PS2, it's gotta be Whiplash. That game was funny as hell, plus it was easy to play too.
Plus, have you ever seen a weasel bash people around the head with a rabbit chained to its wrist, whilst the rabbit wise cracks?

If not, you bloody have now.

As for the Xbox, either Halo 2 or Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

SSX 3 is my vote for best multiplatform game. Now, there were plenty of action sports games in this time period that experimented with open world game design (Tony Hawk 4 and later, Aggressive Inline, etc), but for some reason I was never compelled to gather collectibles in these sorts of things until I was barreling past them full-bore down a mountain. Guess it seemed like more of a once in a lifetime shot, even if I was a minimap away from a second try.

Out of all the epic PS2 games that were out there, the one I had most fun with was probably Steel Lancer Arena International [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Lancer_Arena_International]. Yes, it is a glorified port of an Xbox game, deal with it. For years, I had thought the only way to do giant robot combat was to drive a lawn mower with flat tires and two JATO rockets strapped to the back, hoping that the controls recognize you'd like to look up at the aircraft performing strafing runs on you before your mechanized nipples get shot off. Then along came SLAI, a third person shooter that just happened to take place inside giant robots. Thirty seconds into my first arena battle, all the happiness switches in my brain happened to kick on at the same time. Might've been assisted by the copious amounts of Zebrahead on the soundtrack, but still quite enjoyable even without the radio blaring.

I owned the Game Cube first and earlier than the PS2 and xbox, so my favorite games are for the Game Cube.

1. Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker

2. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

3. Super Mario Sunshine

4. Kirby Air Ride

I also liked Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the GBA, even though, to this day, I haven't beaten it yet. I'm still stuck on the Peter Pan level because I can't find any cards with a high enough value on them.

The game I played the most is probably GTA: San Andreas, but while it certainly did leave a lasting impression on me, this was rapidly deleted from my mind during the first few minutes of Saints Row 2.

PS2 games that I still remember fondly a few years into the current console generation, include:

Jak and Daxter (the original)
Sly Racoon 1-3
Psychonauts
Okami
Steambot Chronicles
Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

And for the GameCube:

Skies of Arcadia Legends
Eternal Darkness

(And I have never owned any kind of XBOX.)

Yup. That was a great generation, all right. No fair asking me to pick just ONE game!

Oh yeah, an honorable mention to Final Fantasy XII! I still see people dissing it, especially protagonist Vaan and his steel bra, but it did provide massive helpings of everything I personally love about the series - plus a welcome update to that long-obsolete battle system that fans had been complaining about for years! [small](Now they get to complain about a nice NEW battle system instead! Oh well.)[/small]

Timesplitters 2, no game will ever give me as much multiplayer fun as that game did. Far too good a game!

That generation was fantastic, but my favorite game from it, as well as my favorite game of all time, is the endlessly delightful Final Fantasy X-2, a J-RPG with more content than most MMOs.

Jak and Daxter 2 & 3 (never played the first one) and the Shadowhearts series.
You are a wonderful person. I'm currently replaying the first Shadow Hearts again! Didn't like From The New World as much, though.
True. From the New World embraced the goofiness a little too much.

In this order, Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts, Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Jak 3, Ratchet: Deadlocked, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Ratchet and Clank, Jak 2, Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando, Jak X: Combat Racing, Kinetica. At least PS2-wise

For GC, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, SoulCalibur 2, Metroid Prime, F-Zero GX

We were far more PS2 fans at the time

For the GameCube, it was Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door.

For PS2, it was Kingdome Hearts 2 and Jak 2.

For Xbox, it was Star Wars: KOTOR.

Please don't hate me but FF: XII. I spent so many hours on that game and it was the first Final fantasy game that I had to anticipate (Ten being the first I ever played)

It just edged out Shadow of the colossus and Okami though.
