I really should say MGS 2 or FFX given what the ol' memory card says about hours logged (well that and the fact that I can't bring myself to sell them... or the PS2 itself for that matter). I have to go with Zone of the Enders 2 though.

Morrowind for me (even the xbox version) followed by shadow of the colossus. Metal gear solid 3 and the resident evil remake are honorable mentions.

Such a shame Burnout 3 and up are shit. :(
You're not going to like my post.

Burnout 3: Takedown. No game has since been able to claim itself as capturing the essence of driving around in a fast car quite as well. Sure, Gran Turismo is more realistic, but the realism takes away the fun, and Burnout 3 was probably the most fun in driving terms.

But coming very close was Ratchet & Clank 2. 1 was a bit lacking in the gun department, 3 went a bit too far, two got the balance just right (though I will concede that Dr Nefarious was the best villain).

Xenosaga, Super Robot Wars, Disgaea and Dysnasty Warriors.

Sadly, I can only look forward to playing one of these titles in my current console.

I'm going to have to say Psychonauts on the Xbox.
Oh, yes, this! An original IP that nailed pretty much every department.

P.S. I liked the Wind Waker, but I'm guessing people are mentioning it now because another Zelda has just come out, so it's fresh in people's minds.

Something only a Dreamcast owner can understand.
I don't consider that part of the same era. They pulled out when the PS2 had just launched, and around a year before the Gamecube and Xbox hit the scene. But, as it was released around 2007, I'd say Under Defeat for the Dreamcast rocket my socks also. Was my fav game for a few years until I played Mushihimesama Futari.

EDIT: Disgaea (mentioned above me)! How did I forget that game? Possibly the last RPG, either Eastern or Western, to have a shred of originality.

Sorry but you are wrong, the Dreamcast was the first sixth gen system released, and is of the same era as the rest of them.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_(sixth_generation)

It's just that less knowledgeable people tend to disregard it, which is not directed at you by the way.

Even though it only had a shelve life of two years it still played host to some truly amazing games, something that the PS2 didn't get until later on in it's life cycle. It was Sega's poor decisions that let the console down in the end, and it was a shame that it was never used to it's full potential.

Also in the EU, Dreamcast's were still being sold even as late as 2002, mostly bundled with phone contracts and DVD players to make up for it's lack of DVD drive.

Man...that was such a good console (Gamecube)

I'm thinking Pikmin 2, Thousand-Year-Door, and Windwaker.

Three of my favorite games.

Since I only owned an Xbox (I know, I only had half a Childhood) it's gotta be Halo: CE. Even if I owned a GC or PS2 at the time it would still be Halo but still...

Sorry, but you are just as wrong as I am, because everyone has conflicting ideas as to what era it is in.

Megadrives were being developed until 1998 and beyond, but it's still not considered part of the PSX/ Saturn/ N64 generation.

Now you can't really argue with the facts now can you, it's pretty conclusive.

Sega wanted a head start from the Playstation 2, and so pushed it out of the door so it could stand a chance.

It was way ahead of it's time, kind of like what the Amiga was in 1985, but that is still classed as the first console of the 16 bit generation (4th Gen) years before the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo came on to the scene (1989, and 1991 respectively). Hell, the Nes and Master System was even released when the Amiga came out and both were 8-bit systems.

The Atari Jaguar and 3DO were other systems that are 5th gen, even though they came out in the 4th gen era, and they were discontinued way before the Playstation, Saturn and N64 came out.

Sega's 5th generation console was the Saturn, not the Saturn and the Dreamcast. Disregarding add-ons and different versions, no two consoles were ever released in the same gen from one company.

Console Gens tend to interlap with each other, as new technology is put to the table.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/systems.html

If you don't want to personally consider it to be of that gen, that's fine by me, but don't ever say that I am wrong, because I am not.

I hate to say it but Halo. But that was the period of time I pretty much left consoles and was pretty much an exclusive PC gamer. So I did not play that many console games around that time.

EDIT: Wait a minute, I saw Time Splitters 2 up there. Yes, that, definitely that. I can't believe I forgot about that game.

That's a VERY difficult question. I'm going to ignore PC games for the sake of the argument, and just assume this was intended for consoles.

Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Armored Core: Silent Line (basically that entire series before Nexus), Godhand, Viewtiful Joe, Smash Bros Melee (before wavedashing elitist cunts ruined everything anyway), GTA3, Shadow of the Colossus, Devil May Cry 1 & 3...

Of course, this was back in the day when we could have a variety of good titles, instead of a slew of shooters with the occasional brawler thrown in. We can't have that anymore. Too much money gets invested into making just one brown generic shooter to risk deviating far from the Blockbuster Code (unless you're indie, obviously; then you're banking on original gameplay or mechanics to combat your lack of investor money and polish).

It's been argued for years as to what generation the Dreamcast was in, with conflicting opinions from person to person, and you have not provided any 'facts' that will settle this ongoing debate.

I'm not going to bother with this conversation anymore. I never intended for an arguement in the first place, although I think it was your intention, hence the 'you're wrong' statement used to feed your ego.
