Gezz, that's one though cookie. Of all times, huh? I mean, is that even possible? I tried to think about it, and I kinda stumped on nostalgia vs. actuality.

Nostalgia game favourite. A game I'll never forget, the one that got me hooked on games, the one game I could play over and over again, it was a golden cartridge. Do you know it?

Legend of Zelda

Best game I ever encountered after that? I don't know...

Silent Hill 2

Final Fantasy X or Pokemon Blue. I think it's a true tie. I have spent abnormal amounts of time on both games and both fill me with delicious nostalgia.

An undecidable tie between Fallout 3 and Halo 3.

Fallout 3: Most time I have spent in a game, best exploration, best RPG.

Halo 3: Epic story, epic setting, epic music and fantastic variety.

The worst part? Both Bungie AND Bethesda are in March Mayhem, so the final showdown will have to happen.

Is it too early to say Oblivion?
Whatever, I love the hell out of that game, despite its noticeable flaws.

What is your favorite game of all time, why is it your favorite game, and is the developer in March Mayhem?

Mine is the original Spyro. It was the first game I ever owned and I played the shit out of it, even though most of the extended game play was from my 8 year old hand eye coordination. I picked it up a few months ago and it was still a blast, I will always hold that game close.
Insomniac is in March mayhem, I currently have them losing to Blizzard in round two:(
Mine is along the same lines, oddly enough.

My pick is Half-Life. I first played it when I was 14 and it literally changed my perspective. Now, keep in mind I had been playing games since I was a wee lad. However, while I was playing Half-Life, I knew I was playing something special. Something totally new and something that had never done before. It showed me how well games could actually tell a complex and intriguing story and create a believable world instead of being just straight forward button mashers with a bat-shit crazy universe or slow, contrived adventures.

And yes, Valve is naturally in the MM brackets.

[edit] I have to add, however, that my favorite "game" is actually the entire Half-Life series. From 1 to Episode 2 and Portal.

Honorable mentions:
Homeworld
MechWarrior 2
MechCommander 2
Banjo Kazooie
Metroid Prime
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Team Fortress 2
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Sins of a Solar Empire
Doom series
Quake 3 Arena
Diablo 2
Eternal Darkness
Halo: Combat Evolved
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Beyond Good and Evil
Psychonauts
etc, etc

I'm honestly torn. Threeways:

Pokemon Yellow (the first game that was ever really bought for me, that i picked out).

Kingdom Hearts (A series that I will always love, and fully understand too, if anyone has any questions about the increasingly wacked out story and characters, just ask)

Psychonauts (Nuff said. Though really, i loved the story, and just about each and every character. Wonderful how they gave every person some defining feature, and wonderful voice.)

Oh, wait, fourth game! Persona 4. or 3... Hmm.

For me, it's a tie between three games:

Fallout 3. For some reason, something about the combination of the world and the gameplay makes this the most playable game I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I've spent more time and gone through more playthroughs than just about any other game. For some reason, none of it ever gets old.

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. In my opinion, one of the best old-school point-and-click adventure games ever made. The plot, rather than the usual sci-fi or fantasy worlds popular in the genre back then, was set in a modern-day New Orleans, and followed a young author as he investigated a series of murders that seemed to be committed by a voodoo sect. The game boasted the voice talents of Tim Curry (you don't know awesome until you've heard him speak in a Louisiana accent), Mark Hamill, Leah Remini, and Michael Dorn (you don't know awesome until you've heard Worf speak with a thick Haitian accent).

SoulCalibur III. In my opinion, one of the best fighting games ever. Well-balanced, great create-a-character mode, and an awesome RPG-like extra mode. I'm still not sure why the developers seemed to take a few steps back with SCIV.

This. I know it was just an honourable mention in your post, but I'm choosing it for my personal favourite game ever made.

It was brilliant in all respects - the gameplay was wonderfully innovative and surprisingly intuitive, the vistas are still beautiful to look at today, the story was nice, the art style was great, the music was beautiful... and it was amazingly atmospheric.

What is that, at the beginning of the second word? Would you say it's some sort of ill-tempered mutated W?

Persona 4. I sound like a broken record, but it is amazing. Character development? check. Involving story? Check. Engaging combat? Check. Can I date Naoto? Check. It has everything.

Edit: And don't think I'll forget about Atlus and Nippon Ichi's snub from MM, Escapist.
Hey, a broken record is fine when it's stuck on a game as great as Persona 4... which is only in my top ten favorite games.

First has to go to Bioshock, no question. I don't have to explain why it's awesome, you all already KNOW why it's awesome. And the fact that you already know speaks volumes about its quality.

Megaman 2 on NES, Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox, Ikaruga on Dreamcast, and Starcraft on PC are all in the running for my favourite. I doubt I'd be able to pick one.

Final Fantasy 9, with Mount and blade: Warband getting a close second.
Final Fantasy 9 just have an amazing story, characters and a setting, that I never get tired of.
And Mount and blade have an open world and gameplay fit me perfectly.

Mass Effect series is up there but for this, I will say the Burnout series, first three games at least, probably gave me the best overall experience, considering it was the only non-NES game my whole family would ever play together.

There are many games I could label as my favorite though.
