That's what 'chip' means here, anyway.
I'm eating some right now, plenty of salt and vinegar.
I'm neither American nor British, so I get to choose. And here in the Netherlands, we call crisps chips and chips friet (or patat, but let's ignore that one), and friet looks like fries (it sounds more like freet though) so I choose to use the American word. MY LOGIC IS INFALLIBLE!Furburt said:Because it tastes incredible! The acidic wonderfulness saturates the potato in such a lovely way. Seriously, it is the sex.Hurr Durr Derp said:Vinegar...
That's one thing I never understood about British/Irish/whatever cuisine. You people put vinegar on your fries.
In the name of all that is holy, why? D:
And it's chips, dammit! Not fries!
Argh.
Ah, I guess the difference between fries and chips for you is like the difference between French fries and Belgian fries for me.Furburt said:I'm still upset..Hurr Durr Derp said:Also, my browser's spell-checker seems to be set to American, so I tend to default to that version of the language.
Nah, I'm kidding. Actually, I think that chips and fries are actually two different things. Chips are typically the bigger, chunkier types favoured in the UK, Ireland and Australia, and fries are the spindly little things favoured in America and other places.
Incidentally, Poutine is awesome. That is all.
Actually, it's "Frieten". ^^Furburt said:And it's chips, dammit! Not fries!
