In an attempt to kind of differentiate from the "Favorite -blank-" topic, I set a rule. The movie in question must be at least 30 years old.

My favorite movie that meets the requirement is Twelve Angry Men(1957)
It's a black-and-white law movie with compelling characters who, surprisingly enough, are never named other than "Jurors #1-12" Also, the majority of the movie takes place in one setting, the Jury Room after the jury hears a case involving an 18 year old abused boy stabbing his father in the chest. It's definitely worth a look.

I think "The Last Man Alive" is over 30 years. I watched it last night and I've got to say it's better than I am Legend remake.

Alien, Star Wars, Apocalypse Now, Life of Brian, Dawn of the Dead, a lot of great movies are 30+ years by now :)

Bit older, I love Once upon a time in the West

Twelve Angry Men is indeed great. I also like The Apartment and Casablanca quite a bit.

If the posting was 25 years or older, First Blood would have been it. Now, it must be Rocky 2.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that is that old I've seen. (so I skimmed a few other answers to see what has been said for some help).

Alien (sadly not Aliens) and probably 12 Angry Men (though the remake is, in my opinion, better). Can't say Star Wars with a straight face... so I won't. ;)

12 Angry Men. I was really inspired by that movie.

Off Topic: The best movie ever would have to be Death Sentence. It captured me and moved me in ways I have almost never felt before, which is why I am surprised no one seems to have heard of it. Albeit, the whole premise of the movie was that a fathers son is murdered, the son had a brother.

My older brother was killed.

Yeah. The original was all white guys. The remake had (at least) a black guy (maybe a girl too). I think the only major difference was the cast and I actually liked the cast of the remake over the original. Aside from that, the basic premise of the movie itself is just good all-around.
