Elfin Lied was good so long as you managed to get over the Deus-Ex-Machina aspect of the entire set up. And the Negima series I was refering to was the second version of the series, which was quite a bit odder and done in the same style as Pani Poni Dash!

After only 6 episodes, it has become my favorite anime.
It is about a world where there is magic, supercomputers, ect. Akuto Sai is a transfer student to a magic academy. His dream is to make the world a better place for everyone, and his goal is to become a high clergy. The school has a magic oracle that can instantly determine a person's future occupation. Here is the order of the readings: "Soldier", "Doctor", "Janitor", Akuto's: "Demon Lord". Akuto is going to become a demon lord after the last one nearly destroyed the world 100 years ago. He sincerely wants to be a good person but his fate is to be evil.
