The intro to FF6, it feels so damn epic and awe inspiring. It's even better seeing how the music and visuals work together so well.

I don't know quite why, but whenever I hear the old pokemon battle themes (from red and blue versions), I get nostalgic. Surely others have felt the same way about a particular game's music?

Edit: Now that I think about it, this seems to happen alot with RPGs
Since you mentioned Pokemon I particularly enjoyed the original Gym battle theme and it's remix used when you battled the Kanto leaders again at the end of G/S/C. On a non Pokemon note one of my favorites is Hidden Palace from S3&K

Edit: Thanks Koeryn! What you said reminded me of Echo. For those who don't know Echo the Dolphin was something of a cult hit for the Genesis/Megadrive. Besides making Halo on Legendary look like a pansy in terms of difficulty, Echo had an incredible soundtrack. I still have my copy as well as it's sequel The Tides of Time (Which was even harder.)

Oh God! There are too many great classic video game themes to choose just one.

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time, Hell I'd sell my soul for the orchestrated version of the soundtrack(yes it exists), or perhaps just the $17 amazon is offering it for...
Such a soundtrack exists? Damn, I want that now!

The music from Streets of Rage on the Genesis.

It was remarkably good. The composer went on to become a successful DJ in fact and got recognized just from his work with the game.
