Simple, if you have seen tech in a science ficton game, book, movie, or tv show, say which one you think is coolest.

my favorite at the moment would have to be the Arc Reactor from Iron Man, because with enough power, you can do anything.

try to limit yorself to 1-3 choices, remember, its your FAVORITE

The spinners from Blade Runner.

The Voight-Kampff Empathy Test gear is also kind of cool.

well i dunno about the details but i feel like lightsabers would be pretty useless

if my calculations are correct (which they arent) the amount of heat coming of that thing to cut through metal like butter would melt you where you stand

also how long would it take for you to cut yourself in half?

more OT: i do like the lightsaber however

The Infinite Improbability Drive from Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy. Not only can it do literally everything that anything else can do, it also has hilarious side effects. Macro-scale quantum effects RULE!
Close second is the Heisenberg Compensator from Star Trek. Just because it's a truly humorous concept.

Void Shields. Nothing beats a defensive barrier that can ignore gigajoules of concentrated energy.

Lightsabers win me over hands down. However, I would really like any form of super suit, like the Varia suit, or Mjollnir armor or whatever from Halo. I guess that wouldn't count as science fiction though because it's super close to being a reality. It depends on where you draw the line of science fiction I guess.

Tricorder from Star Trek TNG, you can find out what's wrong with ANYTHING.

Or the Varia suit from Metroid, that thing does everything.

When it comes to offensive technologies... I'd go with the Warhammer 40k pinnacle of Tau mobile-infantry: The XV8 Crisis Battlesuit. Has adequate armor, built-in jetpacks and interchangeable weaponry. Fast, mobile and enough firepower to mow down anything short of a superheavy tank.

It has a freaking plasma gatling gun as standard anti-infantry weapon. How is that not awesome?

Can't I have superpowers instead? Like Rogue, or Peter Petrelli... Otherwise, a device that enables real life God Mode. Or from a game, Blinx the Time Sweeper's vaccuum ;)
