I'll listen to anything, really. If pressed for a favourite genre, I'd probably end up going for power-pop.

EDIT:

Old School Alternative and AltPop are my 2 favorite.
What on earth is "altpop"? Surely that's an oxymoron.
Just because music is popular doesn't mean it's pop genrewise and vice versa. I would be happy to PM you some if you're curious.
So it's music that sounds like what we might describe as "pop", but less mainstream? I think I get it. So like... Imogen Heap?
Yeah somewhat. The hush Sound, Jukebox the Ghost, and The New Pornographers are other good examples as well.
Coincidentally, The New Pornographers are the perfect example of what I'm talking about too. And I'm listening to them as I write this.

EDIT 2: They've also just (in the past ten minutes or so) taken the #1 spot on my last.fm 'most played band' chart.

I've got a wide range of musical tastes, but if I had to narrow it down I'd go with more extreme types of music like grindcore, tech. death, sludge, and powerviolence, things like that.

I also listen to drum and bass (more relaxing groups like london elektricity), 80s hardcore, jazz, classic rock like War and Chicago, and math rock-y kinda stuff like Polvo (if you like complex music give them a try)

Heh, thanks for clearing that up man. I honestly have no interaction with the current generation of pop music, I don't listen to the radio or watch TV, and the clubs I go to are usually more rock-orientated. I kind of work backwards with music, so something "new" for me will have been around for years, for example I've recently discovered how much I love The Stooges.

Power Pop is delicious. I would almost say that Power Pop and AltPop are synonymous, save for a few minor differences.

Celtic music, some classic (Bach, Verdi, Strauss, Chopin, Mozart), Symphonic metal (Within Tempation my favoutite band), some portuguese music (Amalia, Madredeus, Dulce Pontes, Hyubris, Fingertips, Silence 4, Joao Pedro Pais, Mafalda Veiga, Cla, David Fonseca), modern classic (Vangelis, Vanessa Mae, many movies and games symphonic soundtracks), Opera (Emma Shaplin, Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti, Maria Callas), the older pop-rock style pre-britney Spears type (Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Celine Dion, Enrique Iglesias, Anastasia, Shakira, Alejandro Sanz, laura Pausini, eros ramazotti), some great DJ but I cant distinguish dance floor genres (alice deejay, Safri Duo, David ghetta). And 80's music in general.

Anything that just catches my interest and has me following along to its beat. Especially if its something kind of... strange.

Gogol Bordello is probably my favorite band of all time. Its pretty much Awesome distilled into music form

right now I'm listening to a lot of Kaizers Orchestra, Lupe Fiasco, Gipsy Kings, Wolfmother, The Black Keys, Bill Withers, Mastodon and k-os

I have 2 criteria when it comes to music:
1) it must have a good beat
2) it must be somewhat faced paced
If it fits those 2 requirements then I'm happy.

Could've made this a poll like the thread the other day. Oh well. Metal is me.

Pretty much anything, save for the majority of blues, country, polka and rap music.

Though my favorites include pop and J-pop, rock, alternative, and celtic.

Putting in a poll for something as varied as music just leads to people complaining that their favourite isn't in the options.
