Radiohead. Thom Yorke is a lyrical genius. Every song Radiohead has made is unique. I will admit that RH's songs are often depressing but in a beautiful way. Not that "Oh noes my mommy never hugged me now I'mma cut myself" way. I'd have to say The Bends and Hail to the Theif albums are my favorite. Pablo Honey? Let's just try to forget that one, shall we?

As well, I like Coheed and Cambria, The Mars Volta, Breaking Benjamin, Led Zeppelin, and The Silversun Pickups.

On a side note, it pains me to see Metallica named so many times on this list.

Greenday or Led Zep. Depends on the mood I'm in. At the moment though I'm really like the King Blues and Maximo Park

Right now I am a big fan of 4 bands. The Strokes, Radiohead, Muse and Paramore in that order. I really like the unique sound each band has.

Tool
Nirvana

Mastodon
Opeth
(those two are the only screamo I've ever really been into)
Marylin Manson
KoRn
System of a Down
Alice in chains (win!!!)

THE PIXIES
Get your terminology straight. Music with screaming in it != screamo, same way music with saxophones in it != jazz. Hell, Dave Grohl and Matt Bellamy scream sometimes. Screamo is a subset of hardcore punk. Mastodon and Opeth are not hardcore punk in any way.

But I hear ya, I'm not big on the screaming/growling thing. I like it, but I don't like the music that usually goes with it.

And yes, Coheed and Cambria. Hating them doesn't make you cool.
In my circles, liking them makes you cool. I fucking don't get it, I really don't. Their music is abrasive, but not even in an appreciable way like Aphex Twin or Lightning Bolt.

Kayo Dot? Wow, of all the bands to be mentioned here, wouldn't have guessed that one. Kudos. Also, Mia Matsumiya of Kayo Dot also contributes to a group called Gregor Samsa, who are one of my favourite bands. Different style of music; more simple, less avant garde, but so utterly beautiful.

I'm also a huge fan of Radiohead and The Mars Volta btw. Frances the Mute and Kid A are among my favourite albums.
Great to see there are people with real taste in music on this site. ;)

You don't know how happy it makes me to hear that other people think Pablo Honey is shit. :D

Yorke is a great songwriter. And you will eventually learn that art rarely comes from a positive place; even art with a positive message is borne of the need to counteract some negative message. So of course Radiohead will make depressing music... How To Disappear Completely is music to kill yourself to.

But then they also just make badass songs like I Might Be Wrong. :D

Norma Jean. No question. They are almighty kings of southern rock.
(Thats right, not Pantera)

Just thought I'd change it up a bit since I seem to see an overwhelming amount of Green Day, Metallica, Radiohead, etc. fans on this thread.
