What has been your Game of the Year so far and what games coming later in the year will replace it?

So for my Game of the Year is Total War Warhammer.

And I am eager for the new factions to be implemented :p

Anyway the only other game I am excited for is the Legion expansion for World of Warcraft and I have not been excited for a WOW expansion since Wrath of the Lich King:

This new expansion is tickling all the right areas of me as a Wacraft fan that grew up with Warcraft 3, at least from a theme point of view:

Uh...Skyrim? I don't think Ive gotten many new games in 2016. I got Street Fighter V...but that isn't worth GOTY even in 1991.

I spend more time getting old games I missed than new games. I will be getting the new Pok?mon though. Looks like another disappointment, but even bad pokemon gens...are still fun.

Uncharted 4.

Mostly because its the only game I have bought this year so far.

Either Overwatch or Mirror's Edge.

Overwatch is easily the better game, but while Mirror's Edge isn't as good it is right up my ally in so many ways.

Like the OP I have been enjoying War Hammer but I have to steel myself to play it as I am utterly awful at it. Did Darkest Dungeon come out this year because I've been loving that. Overall though, probably Xcom 2. 47 hours straight, then dropped it after fight to last mission only to find it almost impossible to complete due to my team composition (no top level physics). Thinking about dipping back in with the DLC.

You know, now that I think about it... I'm not sure I've played many 2016 games. And the ones I have played have been pretty... not good.

Just... Star Fox U, Stardew Valley, Dark Souls 3 and Doom. That's it.

Kind of a shitty year thus far, I suppose. Stardew Valley is a nice game I liked, but not really GOTY material. I liked Star Fox U, but it certainly had it's faults. I refunded Doom 2016, and Dark Souls 3 was the most disappointing game I've ever played.

I change my mind. 2016 has been completely trash for me so far. Best gaming I've had this year was a replay of Bulletstorm (2011), Zelda: Twilight Princess (The rerelease was from 2016, but that doesn't count), and Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015, and while fun, it wasn't as good as the first I think).

We're only talking about games that have been released in 2016, right? Not just games that we've played? Because the best game I've played is Undertale, followed by sunless sea and darkest dungeon.

The best game released so far has been Dark Soul's 3. I really hate to admit it, though, because in my opinion

I'm looking forward to FF15 and Persona 5, though, so here's hoping they aren't major disapointments. It's very rare that I get excited for a game, and when I do I always seem to get let down : P

I don't think I've played any games that released this year. The best game I played for the first time this year (not counting the demo) is Dragon Age 2. I doubt anything will surpass it.

Dark Souls 3 I guess. VA-11 Hall-A if you count visual novels. I expect it will either be Deus Ex Mankind Divided or Dishonored 2 by the end of the year.

Well, I started playing Witcher 3 this year, does that count?

So far out of the games that I started (this year), Witcher 3, South Park: the Stick of Truth seem like winners to me. Honourable mentions go to Styx: Master of Shadows and Ducktales remastered, though I haven't finished either of them.

Does an expansion for a game count? If yes, Blood and Wine easily takes top spot. The expansion is bigger and better than most full priced games.

If not that, then if I can pick a game that I played for the first time this year, I'd pick Dark Souls. I bought it and the other two during the Steam sale and I'm having a great time. I'm trying to use guides as little as possible as I want to get the most authentic experience. Admittedly, I did use a guide to figure out how I wanted to build my character since I figured this was not the kind of game I'd want to have my character screwed over in.

If neither of those count, then I'd pick Overwatch. It's the first FPS in years that I've had a lot of fun with. The balance is pretty good and the maps are all well done.

Probably cheating cause it's a game that's not out yet, but Monster Hunter Generations is shaping up to be absolutely fantastic. I think it will be the best game of this year (at least for me).

But from the games I've played this year, probably Rise of the Tomb Raider and Destiny. I know, I know - those two are not from this year, but I only played those two this year, and both have been fantastic in their own ways.

If I'm basing it off the games that came out this year that I'm enjoying the hell out of, I'd nominate Total War: Warhammer, Doom, and X-Com 2.

Hmm, its either Dark Souls 3 or Sakura Dungeon. Ugh, I can't pick between them.

I haven't picked up many games at all this year, so I'm going to have to say Uncharted 4. I had a lot of fun with it, it looked gorgeous, and I really enjoyed the story. Can't ask for much more than that.

...Ratchet and Clank? It's definitely the game I've had the most fun playing this year, despite it's length. It was a blast to play, despite a frustrating final boss.

My real GOTY is almost guaranteed to be Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, if it comes out this year.

Overwatch so far.

I have Doom and Inside to complete, but so far, neither has managed to click for me.
