I know this has probably been asked before, and I guess it can get annoying, but I just wanted to know because I always see comments on gaming videos relating in flamewars between consoles, and I don't know if it's just me annoyed with them, or others also.
So, what do YOU gamers think?

/Didn't add a poll because I didn't know how to word it...I'm a newb./

I think the entire concept of a 'console war' is fucking retarded and anyone who valiantly fights in such wars needs to be lobotomised for their own good.

What ever happened with companies trying to put out the best product they can for the enjoyment of their audience? I know it's all about money, but it seems the focus has shifted from "let's put out this awesome technology and these amazing games to keep our buyers happy to get money from them so we can keep making awesome tech and amazing games" to "let's squash those other two so we can have ALL the money!"

It just seems fucked up to me. But what do I know? I'm just a window cleaner... (cookie for reference)

Well, I guess my opinion on the 'console wars' could basically be summed up as follows:

Would you kindly shut the fuck up!

It's just so damn puerile. Can't one person play a 360 and another person play a PS3 and, y'know, not ***** at each other? Well, okay, the vast majority of people do exactly that, but I don't see why a few people are incapable of it.

console wars seemed more important back when the generation first launched, since most of us can't afford to buy 2 or 3 $300+ consoles right away we often justify our choice with zeal.

it's far less relevant nowadays since most exclusives are no longer 'exclusive' and it seems that at least the new xbox isn't bricking because of a strong breeze.

Console wars are silly in the end though since it all comes down to preference.

Sure, there are differences between consoles. But the point is that some consoles suit different people. I personally own a 360, PS3, and a PC. As well as a myriad of older consoles.

I guess that means I can understandably remain unbiased in flamewars. I understand that some people don't want to purchase other consoles if they're happy with the ones they own, and that's fine.

As for the flamewars, I see it as people arguing over who possesses the better inanimate object. A waste of breath and time, because I've never heard anyone say "Okay you win, your console is clearly better than mine." I think more often than not, people are trying to convince themselves that they've made the "best" choice (as opposed to "favored" choice).

I would agree if that was 20 feet tall and flaming.

Console wars, OS wars..... unless you are rich you generally have to pick one and only one. Some people made the other choice. DEAL WITH IT. Also, other people have different needs. DEAL WITH IT.

I don't think many are going to actually say they encourage "console wars" only extreme fanboys whose mummy could only afford the one console so they have to justify to themselves and the world that the one they bought is the better one. I only really play 360 (I have a PS3 and Wii in my house also) but I'm not instantly going to flame other consoles for that, in fact I'm quite jealous when I see that the PS3 has games like Uncharted and Killzone 3 which just looks sweet

Any excuse for 12 year old kids who can only buy one console feel like they've made the right decision and that their e-peen looks big. In all seriousness the console wars thing is stupid as each console has their respective good games and bad games and if people could understand that opinions are subjective to the person and not fact then we wouldn't get this problem

very much this. I got my 360 because at the time I bought it the PS3 had only just come out, and was therefore more expensive than the 360 and had a more limited game library and I'd be damned if I was going to pay the extra price just so my console could be a blu ray player as well, especially if that was at the expense of games to choose from.

This does not however, mean that I think the PS3 is bad, a lot of the things that made me favor the 360 in 2007 are no longer relevant and I have no time for people who try to draw me into an argument over which is better because in the grand scheme of things it's even less of an argument than ketchup vs catsup. They both do the same basic things, most games these days are out for both of them, any difference in graphical quality and processing power are minor at best and any real differences tend to be mere gimmicks.

At least most PS3 and 360 fans are in agreement that the Wii sucks though right :p

Its hilarious I think, in a sad way. There's basicly 0 difference with 95% of everything, the 5% that does make a difference are important but for each one, one console has the other has a equally good one.

It's complete bullshit. All the consoles have advantages and disadvantages, so why does it matter which one people bought?

The flame war is just another product of rampant fanboyism from closed-minded man-children which spend far too much time ensuring that the world is privy to their every thought and opinion.

They both play games; some of those games are exclusives, but not nearly enough of them to really matter in the long-run. Most of us have made our choice and logged hours of entertainment that prove that both machines have their selling points. Time will roll on, and they'll just be another notch in our gaming belts.

Haters gonna hate. Gamers gonna game. Game on.

"lol u insecure?"

I don't even have a console, so I'm really not affiliated one way or the other. This makes the console wars seem even MORE trivial and silly.

I find it slightly amusing. I was brought up on the SNES, then N64 and Playstation, then I had a PC of my own, then Gamecube, then XBox 360 and Wii (on the fiancee's request - but I didn't begrudge her).

Point is, I don't care about the flame wars. I love how people get so up tight about it. It's a game you're playing after all. Personally, having grown up on them, I prefer playing a game with a controller and perhaps I've never had a controller that was up to scratch with the PC or the PC was just not good enough, but I find there is a lag with PC controllers.

Saying that, I wouldn't dream of playing Populous 2, Sim City or other games on anything on the PC. I got to level 50 on City of Heroes and that is the only game I would have preferred a reactive controller but I did pretty well with a keyboard and mouse.

Between consoles? It's between the XBox360 and PS3, isn't it? Giving it fair credit, the Wii is a great console, with tons of pointless games for niche markets and thousands of games for kids which would probably only otherwise be suited to PC. But the Wii doesn't appeal to single, friendless people or serious gamers unless they were previous hardcore Nintendo fans.

I haven't bought a PS3 on the basis that it was more expensive and my TV wouldn't show a difference with Blu Ray tech. I basically bought the XBox for Fable 2 (and played Fable afterwards) and have gone on from there. None of the PS3 exclusive games have really made me wee myself with joy and I don't pay for the Live subscription so that isn't an issue.

I did play LittleBigPlanet 2 but I just felt like I was playing loads of mini games and every other game my friend owned was available courtesy of Microsoft.

I really have no loyalty. I just went with what was cheaper, because I'm not a little rich kid where daddy can buy everything and I'm not yet rich enough to afford all the consoles for any whims. That's given my circumstances with already owning two consoles. If you're a die hard PS fan, I have no qualms.

Don't care for them in the slightest.

I really try to ignore the people who instigate the arguments about them.

I used to participate in them, then I realized that consoles are all essentially the same things with slightly different hardware and software.

That said, everybody needs to shut the fuck up about brand loyalty and play your damn videogames.

Cross platform multiplayer would be cool too =D
