... Why is that such a stretch, really?
Because this is the internet, where everyone is an armchair lawyer, bad IT advice is thrown out by a bunch of n00b's who can throw together a gaming rig and think that makes them experts, and pretty much everyone lies. Any one of these may not apply to you, but I continue to see that much crap advice or obvious lies on this (and other) sites, that it makes me a cynical bastard.
It also means that at times I will go for a confirmation and probe a few questions just to be sure that the rest of us are not being subjected to one of these armchair types. Even if I don't have the full facts ahead of me, some not-so-delicate probing is enough to find the majority who are BS'ing.

And finally... I'm not sure, but I think you insulted me in the last paragraph there. Don't judge a book by its cover.
I probably did, but only because you are a member of the human race who has not proven to meet my own standards, and are thus considered worthy of my scorn.
I buy books based on their covers all the time - covers have blurbs and parts of the story attached to them. You can learn a lot by the cover of a book (though occasionally you miss a good read).
Anyway, this has pretty well seen me engage in a bit of thread-no-mancy to finish off my side of the discussion, so I will just finish by pointing out that a friend of mine did the Weschler for the second time in 6 months today and got a 23 point difference to her last test. Not bad for testing at the same centre.
