No idea. I'm in college and I didn't need an IQ test for them decide whether or not I was a worthwhile human being.

118 I think it was (according to the internet). So clearly is must actually be at least twice that.

130 Last time I checked here iqtest.dk last year.
I was told the IQ is fixed never goes up or down, but I know of people that got different Iq's in different years.
Usually a child's IQ curve can go up or down, depending on age. Often times you'll see a 12 - 13 year old kid with knowledge and practical skills "well beyond their years" which spikes their IQ. When they're older, that learning curve isn't maintained to the same efficacy and the adult IQ is actually lower, due to the fact that the person's mathematical intelligence has levelled out.

At least, that's what I've been informed about.
I had that.

148 IQ when I was about 13, last I checked I was 132.

Still doesn't mean much - this would mean that I'm the smartest in my family. Okay, when it comes to Math, Physics and IT, I am. But if I did the same IQ test 5 or 10 times in a row, it would go from 132 to 168 without a problem. They don't really test intelligence, they test how well someone passes such test.

When they come out with an IQ test that is proven to be accurate, I'll take one. Until then, all I know is that I catch on to things quicker than most other people.
Well I guess you are never going to be taking an IQ test because you can't "prove" anything in science.
Sure you can. If you drop something from a high tower, after 5 seconds it will fall 125 meters, more or less. Also, water in temperature of 4'C is the most dense, before turning into ice. It also can "store" more of a substance, the hotter it is. So in cold water, you can have less salt than in hot water.

There are a lot of things you can prove in science. It's all about testing and proving various concepts or theories.

there is a simple quick test, if you can work this out then your IQ is more than 130.
2+3=10
8+4=96
6+3=56
9+7=????

my time was about 1.5mins. its not a test of mathematical skill, its a test of lateral thinking.

At the only I.Q. test I've ever done I had a 123. I was 10 years old back then.

Eh, the last internet IQ test (nothing officially made, just one of the ones you find commonly) gave me 118 or something along those lines when I was 15. I've learned a lot since then. That was before I was politically active, and therefore devoted to finding different ways to understand politics better. Now I suspect that I'd be a good 10-20 points higher from all that extra practice. I'll have to check again someday.

It is true what they say about IQ tests though, they really aren't that good as measurements of true intelligence. They measure one facet of intelligence out of many. However, there are numerous other tests that have been invented to test the other facets like whether you are a cognitive miser or not (if you choose what looks like the right answer without exhausting all possibilities), as I read in Scientific American Mind recently. Some of the questions, which were in the issue, were very tricky indeed. Looking at them, I think even non-misers would get them wrong, but one can only question science boffins so much before someone starts complaining that you're thinking for yourself too much.

Every IQ test I've ever taken, has told me that I'm part of some 2% elite and should apply for mensa where.. I can be smart with others.

This alone is enough proof that the tests are full of crap.
It takes the smartest person to realise how stupid he is. Trust me on that. /wink

Last one I did (about a year or so) was around 130

But I've scored higher and lower, usually around the same bracket of 120-135

i've recently done 4 I.Q tests.

and they don't mean shit, results varied from 120-150.
how trustworthy.
This is basically the truth. I've gotten in the last 3 years of testing: 139, 143, 174, 165. So whatever.

Is the answer 146? If so, it only took me 25 seconds. Is that particularly good?

I don't blame the OP for this, but can we please get over ourselves?

I've seen at least 3 of these before on The Escapist, and I feel anybody who really wants to brag about how intelligent they are should search bar and necro something.

Can we please get past the narcissism and be as intelligent as broken testing says we are?

I think most people here are missing the point a bit, the raw number that an IQ test spits out isn't the important part. Its the percentile that's important. Saying that you have an IQ of 130 is pointless if we don't know what test it was and what year it was taken in (the base 100 score is can be increased over time, so more recent scores would be lower with he same answers as say 10 years ago).

The real result is what percentile of the population you are in i.e. in one test a score of 130 might be top 1% of the population but in another that might put you in the top 0.01%.

Also it may not be best to think of the results as an expression of a persons intelligence, more their raw processing speed. They may be utter emotional retards or have other limitations that would make them seem less intelligent or sharp. But then again you can't discount the tests completely, there is still a strong correlation between being good at IQ tests and being genuinely smart. Just don't put too much stock in the 'battle of raw numbers' that I've been seeing here.

(P.S. posting your high IQ but pretending you don't give a shit doesn't fool anyone, ;) )

The last time my IQ mattered was in second grade, when my 140 let me get into the school's gifted program.

However, my ability to get perfect scores on standardized tests without studying has been extremely useful in life.
