I'm playing Dark Souls...
Its a game that makes its only goal to give you the finger every way possible, instead of challenges it presents you with obstacles that just scream fuck you.

The enemies are as thick as paste yet they still pose a challenge because of how much better their movement is compared to yours, and the fact they do insane amounts of damage

Skyrim is by far the best game I have ever played in my life. Its a vast world to explore with a bunch of diverse characters to interact with. Its a game where everybody can have a different experience because of the random events that occur. Just an overall fantastic game with loads of things to do. Even though it has frozen on me a couple of times its still a very good game.

Mass Effect 2 and Skyrim.

Mass Effect 2 on the other hand I am enjoying quite a lot. The characters are interesting and the loyalty missions are well designed. The story is...there but I'm more interested in the characters than anything else. I went with female Shepard (which is strange as I usually play as a male first) and I'm romancing Thane because he seemed really interesting and his loyalty mission seemed to be based on one of my favourite songs.
I thought the characters were interesting, but the game does a terrible job of presenting them. The Normandy seems sterile; everyone stays in their compartments, never visiting each other or having any kind of interaction other than when you visit them or they are summoned to shoot things. It really neuters their development.

Just finishing playing a bit of Assassin's Creed: Revelations, going through some of the sequences again to get 100% Synchronization. It's probably my least favourite in the series so far but I'm still relatively enjoying it. Now onto a different assassin for number 3, Ubisoft!
I'm with you on both counts. The den defense could have been so much better designed, with you commanding stealthy assassins to stop infiltrating Templars along multiple routes, rather than the bland tower defense it turned out to be. And it's nice that they wrapped up Ezio and Altair's storylines, because I am ready for a new character in a completely different setting, with completely different weapons.

I actually agree with you.

The characters talk about others but you never really get to see them interact that often, and when they do it's a more scripted event like after finishing both Miranda and Jack's loyality missions.

It really bugs me too, because BioWare knows how to make believable characters. I played Dragon Age II just before Mass Effect, and there the characters chat with each other, they hang out together, they even go to your house if they want to talk to you. They feel less like props for you to use at your leisure, and more like real people.

Well I just bought Dragon Age: Origins and I look forward to seeing what the characters are like, from what I've seen they do interact with each other more often.

I just gave up on AC:R last night. Really too bad, too. I love the series. This is the first game I haven't enjoyed. I couldn't get into the story, the Desmond puzzle sequences felt really out of place (and easy, which was probably for the best), and the combat was actually worse for me with the inclusion of the Janissaries which, by the time I gave up, I had still not found a reliable way to kill without simply waiting for them to attack you and countering them THREE times. I understand they wanted to up the combat difficulty a bit, but if you're going to do that, don't throw seven of them at me at a time, please.

Most incredibly though, I found the game to be surprisingly buggy and poorly-designed, which seemed odd considering as far as I am aware, there hasn't been an engine change since AC2. You'd think the bugs would have been ironed out by now. In the first five minutes of the game I got stuck in a spot where Ezio simply refused to vault up on a ledge and would just leap backwards to his death instead. Like FIVE times. It's not me... I KNOW how to play AC games. I even watched the little ghost Ezio showing me how to do it but the game just wasn't having it.

Later on, I was supposed to be following an NPC, and every time I got to a certain point, a bad guy would spawn on a rooftop, and the camera would pan to look at it, taking control away from me, my NPC would keep walking, and I would fail the mission because he got too far away. I was only able to finally beat it by trial and error and just GUESS where he was going and try to follow him without any visual clues to tell me if I was right.

And finally, in the mission that finally made me give up, I was supposed to be using a group to blend in to get past some guards, but my blend would just... not work. I'd be spotted and it would be mission over. Again, I know what I'm doing. I didn't have these problems in any of the previous games, this one just felt way more rushed than previous entries in the series.

Oh well. I'll still play AC3 (Or whatever it ends up being) and keep my fingers crossed.

To be fair Uncharted 3 does start quite slowly, but it does pick up, you just need to stick with it. If you want more action, Uncharted 2 is probably a better game to start with. But if you really end up hating 3 then I doubt there is much I can say to convince you to check out any more in the series.
Hmm. I got past the place burning down, and I don't think I'll finish the game I will trade it in or something I am just not having any fun.

I'm playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Prippypants and it's fucking terrifying. I think I've peed more than a little since I've started. Playing at one at night is a terrible idea with that game.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Been playing it since its release for about 12hours a day...at least only 12 for right now cause i'm finishing up Kuon too. Besides its few glitches the game is amazing. Love the cute scenes for every quest and the story is just amazing. Its been a long time since I have actually WANTED to do the quests.

Kuon

This game is making me scream like a 5 year old girl. The camera angles are a little annoying, but other then that its really awesome. The only thing that makes me mad about this is that I've waited till now to play it.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

  • °One of the best MMO launches I've been apart of.

°Fun, but with an odd difficulty that wavers between supremely easy and frustratingly hard.

°Feels less like an MMO than most MMOs.

°Eight different and very interesting stories that I enjoy unraveling.

°Some of the best characters in a video game, with more than a handful that I genuinely loved to talk with and see play out their role.

°Sufficient, though simple and boring at times combat.

Skyrim.
Finally getting arsed to do some of the main-quest. Not that it's bad or anything, it's just that I get sidetracked really easily. "Oooo! A dungeon! I wonder what loot/shouting powers it's going to give me this time?" "Oh crap, a dragon! Where's the nearest rock!?" and despite doing all of this, all I wanted to do was to see what was lurking behind that hill. I love open game worlds where I can get lost in the environment and just enjoy all the content that's been presented to me. Unfortunately I'm getting to the stage where the PS3 version gets laggy (I know, I should of gotten it for PC but I have absolutely no faith in this piece of crap right now) so this may mean my random trails of dicking around may have to come to an end...

I wanted to feel like a real sniper, so I have played MW2 for two hours now. It's the closest thing I have now; I'm a sneaky bastard, who has to headshot people in order to kill ._.

Star Wars: The Old Republic:

Fantastic. Easily my GOTY of 2011 if you count it for that year. The game is addictive and challenging without feeling cheap thanks to a wonderful combat system. The story is great for each class I've tried except the Jedi Counselor. It can truly be played entirely solo and be an excellent experience!

The game has a ton of faults of course in terms of it's campaign lengthening decisions. Corridors are massive and take far to long to walk through. I dislike spending more than half my game time just traveling and forcefully fighting junk mobs when I want to continue the story/quests I'm on.

Why do I have to return to all my quest givers to get a reward? It adds so much length to the game that isn't fun. Just allow a holocommunicate option and drop the prize in the mailbox for players who want that option. I could go on and on but we'll stop there.

Lost Odyssey, when I first played it on release, I did enjoy it to some degree, but couldn't completely get in to it, being about 15 at the time, I was a tad impatient and just didn't take proper notice of it, but now, being 19, I take my time, love reading the 1000 years of dreams and when a certain someone finds a certain someone, I actually cried.
I love it.

I'm playing Modern Warfare 3 at the moment. Thankfully, I didn't pay for it, I borrowed it from my boyfriend's dad, and I'm glad, because it's absolute cack.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

I'm finding that the pistol is the best weapon, considering you'll get like 10 bullets of SMG ammo throughout an entire level. I think the story is very good, despite the fact I've only played it for just over an hour, and the gameplay seems better than most, if not all, FPS stories with no open world.

I'm not a massive fan of the FPS genre to be honest, I like FPS RPGs like Fallout, and I've never played through a single Call of Duty game (I got Black Ops and spent 30 hours on multiplayer without EVER touching the single player). The only shooter I can compare Deus Ex to is Crysis (the only shooter I've completed) and right now it's winning in all ways.

I'd like to think Deus Ex will get me into the shooter genre, but it does seem like the diamond in the rough for the genre.

Sonic Generations

Best Sonic game since the Genesis so far. Really, really fun, too bad I have a glitch with my gamepad in it and I have to use a keyboard for it now.

DE:HR and Minecraft.

I'm enjoying DE:HR a lot, although because of exams I've told myself I can't play it for a few weeks. I'm crap at puzzel games, so I'm finding hacking to be a decent challenge, the shooty bits are kinda meh so I opted for a sneaky play style, which is far more fun. Only problem I have is the zoom out to 3rd person for climbing ladders and the unskippable animation for the Icarus landing thing.

Minecraft. Well, we all know about Minecraft.
