Actually, it is very hard to compare IQ test scores even when conducted by an official instance, since pretty much every testing scheme uses a different standard deviation. For instance, I know that most tests in europe are "accurate" to measure up to 3 times the standard deviation of 15, meaning any test only scores up to 145.
Of course we can leave it up to americans to generally use a larger standard deviation, resulting in more extreme values for the same people.
So, even though people love spamming this topic, we are really just comparing apples and pears.
