Firstly:
Unnamed Soldier: AAAARGH *Dies instantly from gunshot, screaming and flailing*
Secondary Character: Oh No! I have been Shot! I am Dying! I am Coughing! But let me tell you all the important things I have to say! Let me comfort my friends and family! Let me tell So-and-So that I'm proud of him. I forgive Blah-de-blah, I always wanted to die for my country! It's okay that I'm dying! I have just enough...breath...to...say...something...poignant! Uuugh...*Dies peacefully, eyes close, arm falls limp*
Secondly:
Villain who everyone hates and wants the hero to kill: Strike me down and I will become all-powerful/You will become like me, succumb to your hatred!
Hero: No! I shall remain the good guy and not kill you! This prooves I have restraint and respect for human life!
The first one is just pathetic, because I fail to see how importance in the plot denotes the ability to die peacfully in the event of horrific injuries whilst saying everything that needs to be said (except, sometimes, the all important thing, which they die in the middle of explaining)
The second one is just annoying. YOU want to kill him, the HERO wants to kill him, and the VILLAIN (apparantly) thinks that being killed makes him the winner. And if you DON'T kill him, don't act all suprised when he turns on you and stabs you/your friend/love interest. He JUST gave a speech on how HE had no honour! Prooving you have honour does not negate his lack thereof...OF COURSE HE F*CKING STABS YOU
