There was no specific game that 'inspired' me to play games. It was just something I did/do because I enjoy shutting my brain off or sitting through a good story.

But I don't feel any game is particularly important. Thats just silly, and how cults are formed.[/quote/

Thats silly and how cults are formed?..... what the hell is wrong with you? you think because people have games that are special to them its silly and that type of thinking is how cults are formed. You must be a miserable person and I feel sorry for you. I hope one day you are granted the pleasure of enjoying something to the point it finds a special place in your heart and you understand how stupid you sound.

ok so about 6-7 years ago i bought a used ps2 as a b-day present for myself. for the first week it sat there collecting dust.

then by off chance i was digging through a box at a garage sale and found fatal frame with a broken neck staring at me up from the box art. not knowing anything about it i bought it and brought it home.... no one heard from me for the next 42 hours.... well apart from the people in the store next door as i went there for my food.

I loved horror movies and this game hit all the right notes before that my gamecube was for colliseaum and my n64 for stadium.... oh and harvest moon.

Super Metroid for me, the second console game I have ever played, but I mainly say it's my most important because everything is amazing in it. First game that made me see games as a art form so eat my socks Ebert!

Call of Duty 4 was the first "real" shooter game I ever played, and I LOVED it.

Two really, Jet Set Radio Future for making me an actual gamer, and KOTOR for getting me into RPGs.

Oblivion. My first WRPG. And my favorite!

Introduced me to a whole new world of games. I still like the occasional JRPG, but really, Oblivion changed my gaming life.
Pah you younguns and your 21 skills and scaling enemies, back in my day we had 27 skills and if you found a Daedra at level 4 you had best hauled ass out of there or die, and the guilds actually cared about how good you where at whatever they were guilding about.

Probably FF: Mystic Quest, if you learn to bear with grinding at age 6 you can play any RPG ever.

Zelda: LttP hooked me for good.

Then, just as I was getting jaded, everything this Next-Generation came along and made me realize my childhood gaming fantasies are now almost gaming realities!!!

Seriously, all the stuff people complain about in games these days were inconceivably impossible techno-fantasy pipedreams when I first got serious with gaming...

SAbre Wulf or Phantasy Star (the original one).

But I must credit Pac-Pix and the DS in general for bringing me back to gaming after I had lost interest during my cynical phase.

Mega Man 2. It was the first game I ever successfully completed. Up until then, games had been something that my friends did more and I didn't take very seriously, but man, beating Mega Man 2 was awesome.

SimCity for the SNES. Totally blew my mind---wait, you mean there's more to gaming than jumping on mushrooms and shooting stuff?

Then Sid Meier's Civilization came out and ho-lee shit. Mind = Blown. I couldn't go back to twitch gaming after that, and I've been god of simulated people ever since.
