I work in the coffee shop in a branch of Marks and Spencers, which proudly boasts that it's the best one in Scotland. While the pay is good, my hours tend to get thrown around everywhere since I'm a part-timer. Not only that, but I have to serve some of the neediest and inconsiderate customers people I've ever met, people who are always moaning about there never being enough tables during the lunch rush, which is hardly our fault.

Office work; boring, annoying and tedious. But pays quite well and is relatively secure given the current job climate here, so I cannot really complain.

Graduated from college about five months ago and I'm stuck in retail-land working for Target. I almost had a real job earlier this week, but the fuckers asked me not to come back because I was talking to a couple ladies about tattoos because they both had them. And get this, the place wouldn't even let me give my other jobs (Target and Kohls) a one week notice, if I didn't take the job Monday I wouldn't have had any chance. So I nearly got screwed out of three jobs because of them. Thankfully, Target let me come back

Student and receptionist at a very budget hotel chain. It's fine, except when I have to do night shifts and stay awake all night talking to myself for the next five days.

I work part time at a Japanese restaurant. The job is tiring as hell, as the restaurant is quite big and very crowded most of the time resulting in it being very hectic. But it pays well, and I get to eat sushi (among other delicious eastern foods) after I'm done, which makes it all worth it. ...I'm hungry for sushi now >.>

Student. I worked as a housekeeper at a historical village over the summer though and I'm thinking about working part-time next semester at the library....

Part timer in the Pet section of a Garden Centre. The works not bad, pays ok and the customers are all pretty decent. The only thing I don't like is my boss, but I won't start that rant it'll go on forever >.>

Currently looking for full-time employment. Hopefully something to do with books.

Night care worker and part time student studying a BA(Hons)degree in business studies with accountancy. Its not a great job but sometimes can feel very rewarding, pay is rubbish though for what you have to put up with! still its 12 hour shifts so i only have to work 3 nights a week!

Given the number of students on the thread, I'm almost afraid to admit I'm a college instructor. I teach American History for the evening classes at a smaller private college.

I work at food service at my college. Only job i hate there is doing dishes(no one likes it so they bum it off on me) and emptying the fryer(no one likes it either) and at the end of the day my hands smell like food.
Its great. They move my schedule to accomadate my school one. The bosses are really cool and times goes by fast.

So I was wondering if I could get people to jump in this thread and release tension or talk about their job.

I'm a pizza delivery guy, nuff said. Job is not too bad, good pay if I get tips, and pretty nice people to meet / work with.
You mean you're a Deliverator - cool!

I'm IT, databases specifically. I make databases go. The work is interesting, pays well and sucks up all my free time. Read into that what you want.

What about: Unemployed, desperately looking for work, and wondering why the hell everyone is "hiring for the holidays" but "is still reviewing her application" when holiday season has already started. Or why just about everyone wants specialised experience in this or that but no one is willing to train. WTF? And we wonder why our unemployment is so high when an entry level job requires minimum 2 years experience...ITS BLOODY ENTRY LEVEL! Fuckers.
