I must say that sounds pretty damn nice.FalloutJack said:You know what? Skin of Tolerance.
Yeah, you know how that was in Unforgotten Realms? Kind of like that. I am exactly what you expect to see, and ultimately acceptable no matter where I go. Nobody will ever know that I am a different race or even species, so even animals will be like "Ho yeah! This boy's on MY side!" and be all bygones and shit. Imagine walking into the African Savannah, the Amazon Basin, or even Los Angelas...and NOBODY bothers you EVER, because you look the part and seem alright.
Of course, I still get to do whatever the hell to anyone else, so yeah.
(Oh, and for those of you keeping score on what kind of ability this is, don't worry about it being reality-warping, time-based, or somehow all mental. It's just an optical illusion...)
I'm assuming you played some Breath of Fire at some point. Always an awesome power!NyteRaven said:The ability to turn into a dragon... simple, yet awesome.
fair enough, just teasing really. I'd like to hear an explanation on how you avoid issues with the speed/mass relationship thoughTalshere said:Well the ability is "To be able to travel the speed of light" while admittedly I have not stated I had to survive this travel, it was implied. The other argument Ive been having in this thread is should the ability to perceive at the speed of light also be included in this power.Unrulyhandbag said:Talshere said:Read one post up from your ownUnrulyhandbag said:Full control of body temperature and tolerance.
Like a cross between iceman and the human torch. One minute a walking icicle freezing things as I pass and the next flying in my personal thermals.
To me the biggest problem is the fact they do this in atmosphere. Friction's a *****, at high enough speed passing through the air would be like you or I running full tilt at a reinforced concrete wall.Talshere said:In my opinion this is one of the biggest flaws in traditionally depicted super fast heroes. They perceive reality at the same speed as everyone else. This simply could not work. They would need to live a lifetime in the time we lived a few days. If they could run at the speed of light they would live the equivalent many lifetimes (I cant remember exactly how many) while we all lived just one![]()
That was posted while I was composing mine.
Bypassing your own limitations I can see, it's possible to come up with any amount of explanations to allow for the twitch muscle speed, heat resistance, how your body doesn't simply tear\crush itself apart, the ridiculous strength required, how you breath, and so and and so forth. But you want to simply ignore universal limitations?
My argument is that the ability to perceive at this speed is intrinsic to surviving travelling at this speed and so must also be included.
Actually Xangi is wrong anyway, which if he had read my post he would know, a nuke is fission, which is separation particals, the compression of your foot hitting an object at the speed of light more likely to fuse particals than split them, hence you would get fusion not fission.Unrulyhandbag said:fair enough, just teasing really. Xangi said stubbing your toe at light speed would be like a billion nukes, but really long before that you'd be either be crushed by your own gravity well or be pulling in some pretty heavy objects like say, planets and stars.

If we assume that your body is physically able to travel at speeds without suffering compression
