- Beeing the rainiest town in Norway
- Having it's dock area on the world heritage list
- Beeing surrounded by seven mountains

Newcastle under lyme in England so i suppose the potteries and keele university is next to us.
Sadly both places i've lived they've had the industry pratically ripped out.

Had the biggest bank robbery in British History occur here, also one of the dudes who did it was a martial arts experts which makes it both really unsettling and pretty cool. I believe some silly Americans making a film about it, though he did go on about London so I don't put much faith in his film-making abilities or his geographical abilities either.

My town has a reputation for being inbred....

The myth goes back (so the story goes..) to the Middle Ages when the Black Death was on. The townspeople built a wall around the town to keep all the infected people out, nobody was aloud out or in. You can imagine how it went from there...

Not, strictly speaking, my hometown - but the town where I grew up. We moved there in 1987. In 1988, it became famous for the Lockerbie Air Disaster. Judging from other posts on this site, most of you don't even seem to have been born until the mid '90s, so you'll probably have to look it up. It was a big thing at the time: the first major act of terrorism against the USA. Of course, such things are part of the daily news now and aren't much remarked on, but back then, it was something rare and quite shocking.

The Gillaroo.

Yeah... a kind of fish. It's not even just our town either, its any others situated around the body of water they inhabit.

my town is Woodstock, IL and they filmed Groundhog's Day and now there is a groundhog's day ceremony every year. They also filmed a scene from the first season of Prison Break. Some scene's from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Orson Welles went to Todd School for Boys. It says that Jessica Biel, Paul Newman, Chester Gould- creator of Dick Tracy comics, Orson Welles,Lynn Stewart - cofounder of Hooters Restaurant, all lived here.

Warrnambool, in Australia.
A few years ago, our 2-week long Fun4Kids festival was dubbed "the biggest festival for kids in the world!"
It still happens every year... Not sure it's still the biggest in the world any more though :S
That was an official "ruling" (I guess you'd call it :S ) too. Wasn't just tooting it's own horn. :p
When I still worked at the local Woolworths, there was always a crazy amount of foreigners around during the festival.
So... Yea. That's about it I think. :S
