Warrior- Not those boring tanks or self healing fags (cough Wammo cough Paladin). I'm talking big damage. Sometimes spike, sometimes pressure. Always death.

I'll play as whatever I feel like playing as. If I don't want to think too much, then warrior. If I want to make it more interesting and challenging, then usually a rogue or wizard of some sort.

Close combat, direct approach with high damage per hit weapons and low speed.

I rocked Dragoon in Final Fantasy XI, and I rock a greatsword (meat cleaver) in Demon's Souls.

I lean on the Paladin class in most games that allow it enough flexibility to deal damage as I like having emergency healing abilities.

I can have fun doing almost everything, and it mostly depends on the mechanics of the specific game. Oblivion does not in any shape or form support hordes of minions like the necromancer from Diablo 2 has, but Oblivion has a viable stealth option. If there is a necro equivalent I'll usually pick him, and a strong 2nd is a semi-rogue. If sneaking for 10 minutes might mess up I usually wont bother, and in DA:O I can't be bothered to figure out how to make traps worth the time and effort. So I guess straightforward rogue

Well I'm a little bit new to WRPGs but I tend now to play rouges or whatever gets enemies damaged fast. I've been enjoying poisons and whatever else can be used on blades/thrown, I used to love the giant sword class that just soaks damage.

But now I like the ones that avoid damage, even counter more, don't ask how that change happened, I don't even know.

The barbarian.

It all started with my D&D half-orc, so many years ago...

LOTRO Guardian (tank). Shoot some orcs to get their attention then smack them with my sword and shield until they die.

The Hilariously Manouverable Freight Train.

And they still keep coming? Has every hostile NPC got a death wish?

In single player games: I love playing mages. Partially for the splashy, high-damage particle effect fun and partially for the arcane imagery.

In MMOs: I love playing mages. Partially for the splashy, high-damage particle effect fun and partially for the arcane imagery (though I haven't played an MMO since 2008 or so).

In general, I am very aggressive, so I tend to gravitate toward Glass Cannons and Mages, particularly speedy Ninja-type classes and Elemental Mages. This is mostly due to my attention problems; Ninjas move fast, so there's a lot of motion on screen, and elemental mages make pretty lights. I absolutely hate being a tank because I don't do anything but stand around defending. Medics/Priests/White Mages/whatever don't really contribute to damage, so I don't really like them, even though I try to learn a few healing spells/skills as other classes; I can't always count on my team-mates to heal me in time.

I'm the mage. I'm always the mage. In Mass Effect, I'm an Engineer with a sniper rifle. I started a Mass Effect 2 Insanity run with a Level 3 imported Shepard and it's super easy.

in most rpgs: assassin/rogue character, cos they do it from behind ;)
in fallout: plasma weapons, lockpick, science, medicine, a decent amount of strength and luck
in oblivion: always with the fire spells and sword and shield, plus athletics
in mass effect: played as a sentinel and vanguard, both fun, probably prefer sentinel

Look up.

Seriously there's nothing I love so much as aerial combat without mechanical assistance. My favorite genre is fighting games so maybe that taught me to be an aerial combatant but even in action games and RPGs nothing is as fun as descending upon the enemy landing right in the middle of them and then letting a balanced character go to work especially with counter attacks. It's also really funny sometimes because in some games I can climb right back up to my perch and the computer can't follow or attack back so I get to do it all again!

If I can't do that though it's all about the counter attack for me. In the words of the great master "The best time to attack an opponent is as they are getting ready to attack you."

In order of preference, magic, archer, warrior (with a dagger for the first two, cuz you know, stuff happens.)

I prefer to play like the Swordmasters from Fire Emblem. Quick, precise, and with hard hitting close range strikes.

I'm play whatever is the most amusing in the particular game.
For example, in SSF4, I played Honda, Dhalsim, and Dan .. Honda and Dhalsim were powerful characters, while being a little strange. Dan .. he's just strange.

If a typical RPG like Dragon Age, then a warrior, if Oblivion, a stealth warrior.

Warrior DPs all the way, Dual Wield prefered. With the attitude of "i aint dead yet", ive lost count of how many battles ive won with less then 10hp left.
If i had to choose a second then a fleet archer, shoot and move, shoot and move.
Third: big ass single hit spell mage. " oh im sorry did i just hit in you in the face for 250k ??! "
