I'd write a stupid page-turner serious mystery, Da Vinci Code-ish, and then in the final chapter I'd introduce and army of Ninja Velociraptors for the grand finale. That's actually what I'd do if I made a film too.

Im writing an Action Thriller, lots of violence, guns and death, i have the end worked out, my main characters have gone on a massive quest, which hasn't changed a thing in their world, and then they get executed, something the reader wouldn't expect

I already have tons of ideas, some more detailed and thought-out then others. Rather then summarize them in detail, I will instead sum them up in the most bizarre way I can think of. For fun.

Mind-reading cowboy begins shifting across the universe while doing battle with a mysterious cosmic villain.

Half Life 2 meets "Gangs of New York"

Post-apocalyptic explorers find (essentially)Satan trapped in an old Alaskan military base.

Man is stuck in a bunker, world ends around him, has close encounter with a Cthulu-like force.

Time traveling alien pretending to be a homeless man must save small town from evil robots.

A crew of space pirates stumble upon an alien assassination plot.

Yes, there are actually coherent stories behind each of these.

It would be fantasy (though not in a medieval age, or even based on Earth), there would be intellectual seeds planted throughout that foreshadow ever so slightly future plot events, and it certainly would have a moral statement, perhaps more. There probably would be romantic developments, though it wouldn't be the focus of it. And lastly, it would indeed have some sort of tragedy strike.

And I'm in the process of forming such story, so there's that.

I'd most likely write some sort of fantasy novel with magic, dragons, etc. Though since I'm really bad at coming up with character names or really any of that creative stuff with it making any sense I most likely will not pen my own story. If were to though it would probably be a work based on exhaustive historical research and grounded in reality because it is reality. Doing that really omits the other downfall of my writing quite nicely.

Would it be gritty-grounded-in-reality, or fantasy?

Fantasy however in times of battle, the grittiness would be quite there to make more of an impact on the reader, e.g. people dying etc. to position the reader to actively think war is bad.

Would it be romantic?

Romance would play a large part of it between the two lead characters. I love romance so that's why.

Would it be poetic?

No... although this is depending on what you mean exactly with the use of the word 'poetic' as it can have a couple of meanings. One being the literal meaning and one being more "having or expressing the qualities of poetry (as though aesthetic or emotional impact) "

Would it be a simple story or a confusing mess of plot twists and betrayal?

The story revolves around magic a lot and with all the lore and the mysteriousness of its power, I would assume it would make the story seem more complicated to the reader. There is one betrayal. The occasional plot twist occurs.

Would there be a message or moral to the story?

The usual stuff.
War = Bad
Romance = Awesome
Friends that you can rely on = Great when on a quest to save the world.
It would promote heroic characters willing to sacrifice anything to help people. I feel as though this is something lacking in todays society where the main characters all have flaws and usually are quite mean and you wouldn't really want to be them. I want characters that the reader can look up to and aspire to follow their example. Basically, have a good influence on the reader.

Would it be based on real events, or just stuff you made up?

It would be set in a fictional world where everything is made up.

Would it be light hearted, or tragic?

Varying between the two to an extent. The journey will be filled with light heartedness (if that's a word) as the characters bond and discover more about themselves. The plot has a number of tragic twists however and as the journey goes on it becomes darker and very depressing nearer to the end.

I've written quite a lot across a number of genres (including, but not limited to: dystopian sci-fi; space opera; high fantasy; historical fiction; speculative historical fiction; and romantic drama tragedy). All of it is 'gritty' in its own way. Most have either a straight up romance or elements of romance in them either as a side story or involving the main character as a contrast to the main narrative, which is violent, more often than not. As for poetic, depends on your definition. If by that you mean eloquent, verbose and laden with sophistry, then yes, it is. That aside, I often weave in long and 'deep meaningful' philosophical conversations as a counterpoint to action in prose form. Most of them are fairly straight forward stories that allow me to cover any plotholes fairly easily. However, understanding the story is reliant on a lot of prior knowledge of the characters or rather the character of the characters (reasoning etc.). And for the most part, there's little moral/message in my stories other than: if life throws you in the shitter, you claw your way out and shout 'fuck you, life!' What I write (the ones not based on historical events) are typically inspired by the shit I've gone through, but with even more idealised (albeit in the wrong direction) plot-twists and endings (the more tragic, the better). And that should answer the last question too.

I'd want to write a funny, light-hearted fantasy adventure that people don't compare to Terry Pratchett. Yeah, good luck there.

I have a number of very general ideas for stories, though I've only ever written one which I gave up half-way through when I realised it sucked beyond recovery. I would like to write something larger than a short story or an RP oneday but finding something to stick on is hard. General themes that generally are included around my ideas are:

- Either hard fantasy or historical
- Parenting
- Moral dilemmas
- Reliance on others
- Struggling with internal issues

Aside from those, most of my ideas are based around some of theme or message I would want to convey to the reader, as the way I see it the truly greatest story's have something deeper to tell which stays with you long after you put down the book.

I think I could write a manga with ORIGINAL IDEAS and nothing stereotyped unless I'm making fun of them.

I've always liked the idea of a potter-esque fantasy--that is to say, it would be set in our time and on our world, or something similar, but would contain fantasy elements.

I'm busy writing a story about Jahwe and Lucifer who both wander the earth in human bodies. Most of the story is both of them sitting on a bench in the park, watching people walk by, talking about past, present and future.

I've taken a lot from John Milton's Paradise Lost and Dante Alighieri's La Divina Comedia for the characterization.

It pretty much explores the parallels between Jezus and God, Judas and Lucifer. How they both did what Dante saw as the worst of all sins, but even more importantly: why? That way, I'm kind of portraying The omnipotent entity as something of a paradox, because they cannot perform a necessary evil, for it is a flawed action. As such, they must find a middle man, making Judas and Lucifer the true and greatest martyrs of all time.

And there's a thing about Lucifer's daughter dying by her own son, who is, in fact, Death incarnate; son and grandson of Lucifer himself.

So it's not some boring, theological correct exposition, if that's what you were thinking.

I'm actually writing a comedy at the moment. It's sort of inspired by the Pegg and Frost best buddies films (but it's not a rip-off).

Stories I write are:
- Never based in our reality, but never use a lot of 'fantasy' elements either.
- Always psychological or philosophical in nature.
- It has romantic elements if it suits the story.
- Always character focused, even if the actual story is of grand scale.
- Tends to include very extreme scenes which cause heavy psychological damage on the characters in question.
- I tend to take up some esoteric themes, like the morality of murder.
- They contain a lot of symbolism and poetic scenes.

Short summaries of stories I've designed (but not finished), in chronological order:
- Following roughly 10 soldiers as they experience the events of an interstellar war (abandoned project, too badly written)
- The experiences of a non-human high-school couple, her younger brother and two of his friends. Where they accidentally managed to run a spaceship through a closing wormhole and get stranded alone in a different galaxy (abandoned project, was written in Norwegian and turned out horribly).
- A psychotic man, a young nurse, and a rigid detective and their intertwined stories. All non-human. The psychotic man was running away from something horrible he think he has done, doing whatever he can (including nonchalant murders) to escape it. The nurse has a disorder making her obsessed with caring for this man and trying to find him. And the detective tries to find the psychotic man by following his trails. (abandoned project, though I wish I got it finished and polished)
- Based on a dream I had: Groups of people live in isolated compartments in a giant metallic cube run by a broken automatic system. In the cube they have access to information about our world up and to our present day. The rest of the world is a wasteland. It follows a group of four as they get sent to prison by the system, then manage to escape and explore the wasteland, but get increasingly insane/delirious by the end. (I only designed this story, never did write much at all on it)
- A story based on the romantic relationship between two female characters. The story is about the girlfriend overcoming her difficulties with emotional attachment, social isolation, and issues as a human being. The pivotal theme of this story is social relationships. (This story is created for a game I'm making, and in active development).

I spent way more time than I planned on this post. Oh well, that is one way to spend a depressed afternoon.
