For those of you who speak a second language, do you dream in that language? I've asked a couple of my Spanish speaking friends and they give me answers such as: no, or, if I'm speaking with someone who knows Spanish.
And while were on the subject, do you think in that second language? Or does it go back and forth? "Eight times cinco es igual a..."
(By the way Spanish is just and example. If you speak Czech, I want to hear about that to.)

English is my second language, but I don't think I dream in english. I'm not sure as I tend to not remember my dreams.
But I do usually think in english. I have these monologues, or sometimes even dialogues in my head all the time. I have no idea why I do it, possibly because I spend so much time on the computer and pretty much all games and all websites I go to are in english. I suppose it counts as practice.

Not a lot since I don't speak my second language very well but once in awhile one of my dreams will pull a part where someone speaks a little german but other than that I dream almost exclusively in english.

Oddly enough, I don't dream about anything. Since my average time of sleep is 5 hours per day, my brain has better things to do than dreaming when I'm asleep. Like resting, for example.

English is my third language and I sometimes dream in it. Also in Italian but much more rare.

I once dreamed in drow, even...not the whole dream, but there were enough words of it to form dialogues. It was very strange.

Do you actually dream in language? I am pretty certain I don't use language when sleeping. None of my dreamy thoughts are abstract enough to require language.

I dream primarily in English, though sometimes in Japanese and occasionally in Chinese.

These days though, it's always in English, because I fall asleep listening to the bloody BBC World Service... (and waking up/lucid dreaming to BBC's the Today programme)...

I dream mostly in French (native language), sometimes in English when anglophones I know are in the dream. That's pretty rare, though.

Primarily in Swedish but I often dream in English as well. When I was an exchange student in Spain I started to think in Spanish after a while but never dreamed in it though.

I dream in Spanish (my native language).
Although after a couple of months in USA, I started to dream and even think in English.

My dreams don't always have people, and they don't always speak, and when they do it's usually Swedish (1st language). Occasionally, I do remember my dreams having English in them. One really scary phrase pretty much jumped at me once.

On a related note, I sometimes prefer thinking in English.

I only dream in black and white. I only dream 'cause I'm alive. I only dream in black and white, to save me from myself.

OT: I guess I dream in swedish or english, but I don't dream that often.

I am fluent in English and American Sign Language, sometimes I dream in ASL but most of the time not. Every once in awhile I dream of someone who doesn't sign, signing. That almost always pulls me out of the dream.

I only dream in English as it's the only language I speak fluently. I find it very interesting what languages people think and dream in though, I've always wondered about that kind of thing.
