I took French in Highschool but didn't continue it after grade 9. I just couldn't get into it or retain anything from those classes. I wish I could have as being a bilingual would help if I ever moved to Ontario or Newfoundland.

I choose to split mine up into three categories. Humor, beauty, and action packed.

For humor I have The Incredibles, beauty for ShawShank Redemption, and with action packed we have Fight Club (although it's not really an action packed movie, shut up).

English, cause it's not my native. And this year I tried to learn French and failed. Badly. *sigh*

Our school was insane. It was a language college, so you took a shedload whether you liked it or not. Year 7 was Japanese for some strange reason, then for the next two years German, French and Spanish and then you could cut one language for the final two years. You could also choose Italian, Welsh, Urdu and Sign Language.

I passed, but forgot everything but German the minute I went to Sixth Form.

Spanish, and despite my best efforts, I almost failed it (seriouslt, I had a private tutor twice a week, who spoke Spanish and English perfectly, along with around 5 or so other languages, and I still almost failed my class). Language's other than English are not my forte (even English took me a long time to learn, I didn't speak at all until I was about 3 1/2, and only because I went to a speech school that specialized in teaching english).

Greek and Japanese, but I hardly remember anything from them except a few words, instead I chose to perfect my English vocabulary.

Like many people here I'm taking Japanese. I'm on my 3rd year and I plan on going to AP Japanese next year. My school is quite known for our extensive language programs in our district. Our languages include Latin, Italian, Chinese, German, Japanese, Spanish, French, and we used to have Sign Language but the budget problem caused it to have to be canceled. I wanted to take Japanese not just because I was obsessed with the culture, but mainly because it was a different option because most would take French or Spanish, and now this year the popular language is Italian.

English and German. I learned English almost to perfection but barely due to school. It was mostly a combination of taking private lessons for about a year and using the computer. I didn't dislike german, but as soon as puberty kicked in I was more concerned with being the cool kid rather than give a fuck about learning. Even though I had quite good grades in my first 2 years and learned to converse in german (I was the best goddamn german speaker in that class) it all went downhill as soon as 7th grade hit.

Well, since I had to do French for my first 3 years of high school, and it then came to GCSE options, I decided to continue it (Maths and Science were compulsory, and I'd already picked the extended ICT course which turned out to be a bit crap anyway.)

I also picked Modern World History, because I was interested in WWII. Turned out that we didn't get to do much on that either, we learned mostly about what it was like in Britain during the time, to both mine and my teacher's dismay.
