I imagine the reason the cravens are getting so much love is because most people on this site identify with them. I mean, it is a gaming site, so we're all scrawny and weak sleek and agile.

Seriously though, they're the fragile, fast spellcasters. That's always a popular class.

Werewolves.

And if you all want me to try something else I can make another sheet in a day and see about that. Something other than an art user.

QUESTION: can craven use their art while in werewolf form or just in human or can they do it in both?

I wouldn't worry about it. We were just noticing a trend and besides I don't think anyone else but Zuma has the right to ask you to change your sheet, especially me.

that is true. and i had thought about it because i like making sheets, kinds. but it makes sense when u think about it because
one: werewolves.
two: one of the werewolves are massive physical and another is massive magic.
three: werewolves.

Name: Jubal Sackett

Gender: male

Age: 22

Race/Subtype: Werewolf/craven

School/Level/Specific Art: summoning/ level 3 (Virtuoso)/ animal aspect

Appearance:

*Human: thin and tall man with striking blue eyes and black hair. Standing almost 6 feet tall and weighing not much over 180 he looks like instead of muscle he has wires under his skin. His skin is tanned and there are several ropes of scar tissue on his arms and back, one thin scar across his face from just under his left eye all the way down to his collarbone. Usually wearing a black short sleeve shirt with a lone wolf or moon design on it with work jeans and tennis shoes, all of which he looks uncomfterable in and is usually fidgeting slightly when standing around. A wolf [http://www.snap.ednet.ns.ca/hhs/mm12rengland/tribal%20wolf%20head.png] tattoo on the back of his left hand and a celtic S [http://seven.ucoz.net/s7s-logo.png] over his heart, with a small roman numeral 3 under it.

*Wolf: long and thin he doesn't look like he has had enough to eat. His legs thin but more than able to hurtle him after prey and along roads and places. His eyes still a striking blue his fur is a grayish brown.
Scars in just about the same area the one on his face is hidden under his fur.

Faction (can be freelancer): freelance

History: Born in Tennessee he was part of a newer werewolf pack, only a few decades since they had moved there and taking the area they lived as their own. Growing up as mostly werewolf he learned the hunt and pack rules before he even learned that there were other things but werewolves walking the world.
The pack let a craven stay in a cave north of them higher up on the mountain because of the wisdom and his skills with the arts, which were so large he was able to call anyone who had ever lived up to be talked to in front of you. He was used to keep the pack safe and to talk to past alphas for wisdom and advice concerning how they should deal with the surrounding packs and towns. As he was growing up he heard all about how the craven in the cave was dangerous and to stay way but because of how kids think he went to watch as he summoned up the people of the past for wisdom and to fight in ties of danger. Thinking it was an amazing gift he tried to copy him in private where no one could find him. At first nothing happened and he was disappointed but over time he was able to get squirrels and other small animals to come to him as spirits. One day when he was practicing the pack alpha walked in on him and surprised him, the spirits disappearing and his secret was out, taking Jubal by his hair he pulled him outside and summoned a pack gathering. The only topic of this gathering was to see what to do about Jubal, most of them wanting to forbid him from using it again but keeping him, while some wanted to have him learn from the craven in hopes of mastering his craft and someday being able to use it for the packs good.
The alpha decided that he was to take lessons from the craven so he knew how to use the art. Taken up there that day he was introduced to the craven and for the next many winters and summers he went there and slowly his control and power of summoning increased to such a degree that his body stopped being able to only function in the physical realm. When he was in his 15 th summer he was put into the adult tests and passed, getting the wolf tattoo on his off hand to show who and what he was for all with the eyes to see. After that the craven in the cave took him far into the wild and made him summon animal after animal from the lowest level to the highest Jubal could summon. After Jubal was finished and exhausted the craven summoned a master tattooist from another century and was given the Celtic S as proof of him being a Summoner, with the roman numeral 3 under for the level of his gift at the time he was formally recognized as an adult. Told that if he ever mastered his craft he would get that one removed and the last number put in its place.
On his way back to the pack he was happy and bouncing along after the craven, until he saw the fire and smoke. Racing away ahead he found the whole of his packs grounds where they lived wreathed in fire and death. Black things moving among the fire and killing the few pack members still alive. Jubal howled in furry and pain and tried to attack them but because of his exhausted state and his tormented mind because of what he saw his spirits he summoned were weak and was only able to do is mildly hurt one of the black monstrosities before his spirits were crushed out of existence. At that moment the craven appeared and hissed a word out that Jubal had never heard before but would never be able to forget again, "Atraxia". He summoned his most powerful spirit and sent it into the blaze to kill it but it was swiped aside and then another walked out from the fire and pierced the craven through the heart all in one swift move, attacking Jubl at the same time only making a deep scratch on his face that is visible even to this day. Jubal turned and ran, knowing that staying behind would only bring another death and nothing more, vowing that in the future he would find and kill the one who did this to his tribe. Running for what felt like forever he stumbled into another pack of wolves hunting, collapsing in front of them and near death they took him and brought him back to their camp.
For several days he was on the edge of death, exhausted from all that had happened he slowly come back and told his story, those around when he told it also hissing and explaining who and what Atraxia was. Finding out he told them he was going to find and kill the one responsible. They let him stay until he was well and told him more about the outside world, also about the shadow community. Deciding that he was going to head east and see about gaining experience and knowledge, along with to see if anyone had information about his packs killing.
He stayed with the friendly pack who found him for several years to learn about the outside world and what to do there, finally leaving when he was 20 summers. Taking a couple years to get to new york, traveling slowly and talking to any along his path about anything important. Getting to new york he knew about the boards that have jobs for those with the skills and willingness to do them. Having to travel at night and do much of his work at that time he because he would sometimes become ethereal and have mind splitting visions of the astral plane.

Skills (what your character is good at beyond their Art): free running, learned in the forests of Tennessee and useful even here in the city. Good tracker and hunter but used to hunting with a pack from his childhood but can do some on his own.

Weapons (optional): NA

Notes:

Comments, concerns. Anything to critique would be appreciated.

@EmperorZuma What kinds of animals are the small ones in summoning, and what kinds are the large? Roughly.
Sheet looks fine, as for animals, large ones would be Lions, Bears, and Elephants. "Small" ones could run up to about an average dog's size.

And they can use their Art in both forms, but are at their best while in werewolf form.

Name: James Crulk

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Race/Subtype: Werewolf/Craven

School/Level/Specific Art: Enhancement (Level 2)

Appearance: As a human, he's pale and sickly, with thin lips, a long nose, and a scraggly beard that shifts day-by-day but never gets longer or fuller. He suffers a limp where one of his former Alphas tore his leg, and the way he carries himself, hunched and fidgety, makes it no better. As a werewolf, on the rare occasion when he chooses to turn, his fur is prickly and patchy and he leans low at all times, more akin to a rat than a wolf.

Faction: Emergence Coalition.

History: Born in the gutters of Staten Island, taught in the gutters of Staten Island, raised in the gutters of Staten Island, James never cared much for his histories or any fancy book learnin'. He had a mother he hated and a father who was never around, and that was enough for him. James always fancied himself a cut above the rest of the scofflaws and thugs who populate his little neighborhood, so when the time came for him to choose between the two warring packs in his town, he thought he'd be clever and try for both. For years, he played them off each other, ratting on both to each other, spending hundreds of hours doing "espionage," and blaming someone else when it all went wrong. And then they found him out. Both Alphas called him at the same time, shattering his connection with both. From there, it was a swift descent into darkness. At the end, he was on the run from both gangs with a bleeding leg and a shattered mind, sick and afraid. He joined the Emergence Coalition as a way to hide and stay alive, and in the hopes the laws of the surface world would protect him.

Skills: James possesses a burning desire to survive, and he would do anything, no matter how monstrous, to appease it.

Weapons (optional): Aside from his aura, nothing.

Notes: Not sure if the whole "Serve two Alphas" thing is actually allowed. Sorry if it's not.
An Alpha's call doesn't really work like that, the call is simply an emotional trigger for the average werewolf, and has different effects depending on who's calling and who hears it. For example, the Alpha of one pack's call could inspire his pack, while another pack (say, an opposing pack) would hear it and be thrown into intense anger.

While I find your idea of playing two packs interesting, the Werewolves just don't work like that, at least not while you're still a pack member yourself. James would already have to be Craven to break his connection with one pack and play both sides, not turn into one after.

To rework it, what if James was abandoned as a child, or his parents were killed? A situation like that would be enough to break the connection (if he knew them, he can't just be an orphan with no memories of his family). Then he would be Craven and play the packs, with them turning on him in the end.

-By the way, I have noticed the bulge in Craven numbers, and I will take this into account when the RP begins. If more people join, the extra Cravens might be the first things I will have to cut if I can't accept everybody. So, if you're still considering a sheet, might not want to pick Craven as your subtype.

Name: Det. Lawrence Daniels
Gender: Male
Race: Fae
School/Level/Specific Art: Summoning/Practitioner/Human Aspect

Appearance: Lawrence stands at 6'2" with an average, though rather sturdy frame. A black crop hair rests atop his head, short and generally untidy, though he hides this fact with a fairly stereotypical (for his profession) grey, black, or dark brown fur felt fedora. Typically, the detective wears a semi-formal jacket and slacks matching the color of his hat. His plain white dress shirt and black leather dress shoes are his only clothes that remain consistent in color. It would seem that, other than a rather odd eating habit of his, his attire one of the few things that shows any neatness, another being his prized car.

Faction: Freelancer

History: Lawrence's history, at least in the early years, was fairly unremarkable, for one of his kind at any rate. Graduated high school with a B average, earned a bachelor's degree in law and tried to become a lawyer like his father. As he quickly found out, he loathed the type of work it offered. Pushing papers and sitting at desks, digging for technicalities and loopholes buried under pages upon pages of law jargon was unfulfilling for him to say in the least.

Much to his father's lament, Lawrence quit his job and joined the NYPD. He wasn't completely free from writing up reports and shuffling papers, but everything else he was doing made up for it. He was just a beat cop working downtown for a while until he was offered a promotion for his ambition and hard work. He was put on the homicide investigation team where he happily worked for two years until he took a bullet in the shoulder. It happened when the detective and his fellow squad mates were apprehending a suspected serial killer and cannibal.

What was supposed to be a routine raid escalated into a hostage situation. It was a standoff between Lawrence and the perp with a hostage. The lunatic had his arm around a woman, a scalpel ready to slice her throat if necessary, and an automatic pistol trained on the detective. The situation ended with Lawrence taking a 9mm slug in the right shoulder, the woman with a fresh opening in her throat, and the maniac with a hole in his skull. The details were never completely put on paper, as even Lawrence would say that it all just happened too fast. Though few suspected he simply slipped up, which was far from the truth, nothing noting anything of the sort made it into the official report. Some questioned it afterwards, which was expected, but eventually people just stopped caring.

The fact of the matter was, Lawrence knew that the "maniac" was actually a Clansman that had made a nuisance of himself by attracting far too much attention. The detective was already assigned to the case before he learned of this, and was in fact informed by a man who introduced himself as a "private contractor" with a "very lucrative" proposal. Lawrence would've arrested the man right where he stood had he not come forward with not only information that the suspected killer was a vampire, but also stranger recognized Lawrence for what he was. The contractor said that, given what he'd seen and heard about the detective's record, Lawrence could certainly find better use for his skills. Or at least do more than just make it by.

During his physical therapy Lawrence had plenty of time to consider his options. So far it really had just been sliding on by, not really doing much. Sure, he was a successful detective, but the way he was living just seemed all too...human. Which he never thought was a bad thing, in fact he had tried his best to distance himself from the business of the Shadow Community. Though as much as he tried living his life as a human, he always has his curiosities. Being stuck hugging a desk and pushing pencils, waiting to be finished with physical therapy brought these curiosities back stronger than ever. Ever since meeting that stranger, the detective knew how to come into contact with him. Lawrence just hadn't been certain about how he felt after putting the Clansman down, but with his arm finally nearing the end of its recovery, he's been itching to get to doing more than his usual business.

Aside from his usual business, Lawrence took to restoring a black 1967 Dodge Coronet he saved from becoming a lawn ornament. Working on it over the years gave him experience in mechanics. He remains somewhat of a recluse, having kept to himself for a better part of his life, and has always struggled to maintain any sort of relationship, let alone find the time to build one. Lately he's also taken up drinking, frequenting a local hole in the wall where he'll stay until closing on some weekends. He's not an alcoholic, just goes in for a chat with the bartender and some whiskey to help take the edge off things.

Skills: Very proficient in the use of an array of firearms as a result of extensive training and frequent experience at a firing range. Experienced in hand to hand combat - nothing fancy, but he can hold his own more than adequately. A do-it-yourselfer when it comes to mechanics, which has come in handy on more than a few occasions.

Weapons: A Colt M1911 slung under his right arm, a Sig Sauer P226 holstered on his left hip, and a Dan Wesson 15 .357 strapped to his left ankle with the 4" barrel being his primary choice for ease of carrying. He also keeps a Mossberg 950 12-Gauge Tactical Shotgun in the trunk of his car.

Notes: Though one would hardly notice at first, after spending enough time with Lawrence one should be able to see his odd fixation with maintaining a monochromatic palette. It's apparent in the way he dresses, the colors of his car, and oddly enough, his food. If dining out, he'll take the time and effort to organize his food by color before taking a single bite. When he cooks for himself, he never mixes food of varying colors.

Interesting character. Like the idea of a hard-boiled fae character. (note that I'm not the GM)

Little typo in there... confuses things a bit...

"It happened when the detective and were apprehending a suspected serial killer and cannibal."

Er... is there supposed to be another name there somewhere?

Or is that "were" as in "Werewolf"?

If the latter, then you might want to capitalize "were" to eliminate confusion.

Heh. I imagine your detective wouldn't take too kindly to my character, Johnny D'Ville.

His hobbies are: murder, grand larceny, aggravated assault, murder, joyriding, kidnapping, murder, fraud, tax dodging, murder, smuggling, murder...

to be honest, its mostly murder with him.

And he's a member of the Gray Talons.

For the moment anyway. I'm sure they'll kick him out/try to kill him once they're no longer desperate.

Reminds me...

a lot of freelancers applying in this so far...

I think I'm the only one besides the GM to actually be part of a faction to begin with.

EDIT: SirPlindington has the Craven and Ruedyn has an Alpha in the Asura Group...

...It's 2 in the morning and i can't sleep, Checking is one of the only things to while i try to get tired.

A lovely sheet.

As for the freelancer abundance, it really doesn't matter. The factions are meant to serve as the forces that will invoke change in the city if their agendas are allowed to unfold. From what I've read, many of these characters might be satisfied with the tenuous status quo, and work to fulfill their own ends. While those who have joined factions will enjoy the highs of power more easily than the the others, the freelancers do have the benefit of cherry-picking jobs, or ignoring them altogether.

If I may throw my two cents into the ring, the reason why I haven't chosen to align Katrina with a specific faction, it's just after reading through them all, there isn't really one that would fit her. Plus, it allows a greater degree of freedom with who she works for; and that she isn't tied down with being loyal to one specific group.

Fair enough.

But, have you taken a look at Johnny D'Ville's sheet?

There is no way he is a loyal member of the Gray Talons. He's a member, sure.

But he can't be loyal to them for a very simple reason, the same reason that they let him in to begin with: they're desperate.

And as long as they ARE desperate enough to put up with him, they'll keep along...

but the minute they aren't... he fully expects them to throw him out at best, and try to kill him at worst.

Yeah, on those grounds, it doesn't appear that they'd hit it off well, if at all. XD

Talked with Zuma. Apparently its okay for us to roll more than one character.

Though I'd still strongly recommend PMing Zuma for permission first.

Name: Jalai Kaijin

Age: 433

Gender: Male

Race/Subtype: Earthborn/Troll

School/Level/Specific Art (if applicable): Calling/Virtuoso/Islato

Appearance:
That isn't a painting. That's a photo of him. It was taken about two weeks ago. As part of his study of The Calling, he has lost much of his former color (he used to be bright green, blue, and purple all over), and shadows seem to be much deeper around him. His eyes are now nothing more than hollow black pits.

Faction: Technically Freelancer, but he's kind of starting a cult of his own. Details in the other spoiler. Let me know if you have problems with it.

History: Born in the 1600's, a time where anything remotely unusual was deemed "unnatural" and thus, needed to die horribly, as the conventional human wisdom went. The place? The Catacombs of Paris, France. Not an easy place to live, since the criminal element loved to duck through the tunnels. But then again... haven't there been plenty of tales of foolish mortals getting lost down there and never turning up again? Hmm... anyway. Around the time he turned 50, he became separated from the rest of the local Parisian Earthborn commune during one of the Inquisition's many witch-hunts. Hoping to find friendlier areas to live, he managed to smuggle himself into the New World after several decades of wandering the European countryside, ducking from cave system to cave system.

Once he arrived in America, he started ingratiating himself in the local troll community underneath what would one day be New York City. He quickly (by troll standards, anyway) attained a good deal of esteem among the other trolls, and even some of the orks for his crafts, and his nearly unparalleled ability to manipulate the surface-dwelling humans into doing whatever the Earthborn required without being detected. It didn't always go according to plan however. Hence why the Native Americans sold the land for a penny. (he had been trying to coax the two human "tribes" into working together in relative peace but the European settlers wouldn't have any of that apparently) However, this turn worked in the Earthborns' favor as it meant that instead of a population of Natives who might take the possibility of trolls living underneath their feet seriously... instead... they were replaced with skeptical Europeans who would dismiss the rumors as nothing more than large alligators and other reptiles wandering through NYC's slowly growing underground.

All of which served to give Kaijin a great deal of esteem, and a sizable fortune.

Both of which, he has started using to promote his new religious order: The Unearthed Gaia. (but more on that in a minute) Which hasn't been growing as rapidly as Kaijin had hoped, but it is steadily gaining new members. For now the group shares the Underground with the rest of the Earthborn community. For now.

There are rumors circulating that his Calling is starting to come to an ugly head. And that he is starting to hear dark whispers, giving him orders, making him start a cult. His followers will tell you that he hears the voice of Gaia herself, and she is very displeased with her children.

Skills: Mostly social skills: intimidation, eloquent debater/orator, charismatic and charming most of the time. He is somewhat skilled at hand-to-hand combat, but has no talent whatsoever for weapons of any kind. He is very good at moving silently however.

Weapons: None. Unless you count the claws his... 'gift' has given him.

Notes: Any player character who wishes may join his cult. Assuming that A) this character gets approved, and B) his cult gets approved. If both are the case... then any PC who wishes may join at any time, whether in character creation or in-game.

Okay, there's the "Prophet" of the Unearthed Gaia.

Here's the cult:

Consisting primarily of middle-aged trolls and very young goblins and orks, the Unearthed Gaians don't so much control the part of the underground they live in as much as they co-inhabit it with everyone else. For the moment. If they are taking over, their strategy is a little more subtle than the turf-war going on up on the surface.

Publicly, the Gaians are a peaceful, friendly brotherhood of weary and broken souls united by the various tragedies of their past. They seek to help and council each other as best they can in order to heal past wounds, and bring about a better time for all. They offer free medical services and food to any in need.

Privately though... only a very few within the cult know for sure, but there are rumors of something much, much darker lying at the center of the cult. Something that demands blood and souls. But whose? These rumors have never been proven of course, and if pressed about it, members of the cult generally sigh in exasperation, and invite you in to find out for yourself.

So what do you think?

Does this work for the RP?

EDIT: Okay, added the demon's name.

Interesting, as long as this faction isn't considered a major player in the New York scene, I don't see any glaring problems. As for Calling, the available kinds of demons are the spawn of the Elder Ones, detailed in the Calling section. The pictures shown for each one are there to give you a general idea of what the spawn can look like.
