As some random MMORPG NPC that just so happens to be working on the wrong side of the fence when some stupid heroes decide to enter, I'd probably drop one or several of the following:
Common
- Ragged street clothes "A perfectly ordinary but also rather overused set of street clothes" (can be sold for money)
- Broken glasses "You even broke my glasses you asshat!" (can be sold for money)
- Leather Wallet "Credit cards and shit - who actually needs that?" (can be sold for money)
- Stack of books "They sure are big. Maybe you can use them as a blunt instrument?" (when equipped: deals 10 damage (physical))
Magical
- Ancient gaming rig "Might have been new 10 years ago"
(when equipped: deals 20 electrical damage and 5 fire damage on strike. Has a 5% chance of dealing the same amount of damage to you in the process)
- Avantgarde-music collection "Your ears bleed just from listening to it, leaving you in a completely disoriented state of mind" (When in inventory: +5 stamina and +2 intelligence -7 to perception)
- Oversized Keybelt "How can someone have so many keys? But they have to fit somewhere, right? You just have to try hard enough!" (When in inventory: Strength -2, increases chance of rare and magical drops by 1%)
Rare
- Physical Research Notes "You don't understand them, but they sure look important" (Starts quest: "Becoming a Mad Scientist")
