What made you want to join The Escapist?

So fellow escapists, what made you want to become a member of The Escapist?
For me it was mainely Zero Punctuation.

Thats mainly why I joined.

Oddly enough, I did it out of spite. I was lurking on this site for a couple of months when it told me to vote for this site for a Webby award. I did just that. But when the Webby badge was handed out I didn't have an account so I joined with the intent of arguing to get mine. It didn't happen but I'm glad to be an official Escapist now. This site rocks!

I came for ZP, stayed for the stuff by LRR, signed up for Genre Wars, posted on the forums because of some reason I can't recall, but probably involved Myst or something.

Friend linked me the ZP review for No More Heroes and I laaaaaaaaaaaughed and laughed at it, as it was a game that drove me batshit.

I would come back and watch videos every month or so, but never browsed the forums until late last year, when i decided to sign up.

No seriously. I watched the videos and the only reason I got involved on the forums was because I wanted to tell people that I hate Halo 3 more than George Lucas hates Star Wars.

But my trollishness is all but diminished...

Well, some friends showed me some of the videos, not just ZP, and the forums sold it for me.
I felt like seeing what forum life was like. And Unskippable sweetened the deal. as did De-Rez, (Drawn by Pain?), and some other features.

After I watched a video, I would always click some of the "popular threads" sidebar. I was tired of just reading, so I joined.

The first ZP i saw was bioshock on youtube and after about several hours of searching i finally figured out that ZPs home web site was The Escapist.
