that does not make you a nerd
I don't think you get it...
So I will now say what really makes me a nerd. I play videogames A LOT, I'm a complete gadget geek, my phone has more pointless tools than Batman's utility belt, I could be bothered to find that .gif... the list goes on, actually, I'm involved in loads of nerdy discussions, loads a stuff, ya know?
Although I am from Cork (dacent!), have a girlfriend who's hot and smart, go clubbing, and have an EXTREMELY active social life, I am still a nerd.
Ask me how.
Wait, don't.

EDIT: "Ask me about Grim Fandango."
PICK UP
"I don't want everybody asking me about Grim Fandango."

Mostly my anime collection.
The fact that I used 4-5 years of my life on World of Warcraft also helps!

I volunteer to help out at conventions! Also there's the gaming, the love of Transformers, anime/manga, the speed reading, and the glee at the minute details of cooking. I am such a food nerd, you don't even know.

Plus about 8+ hours a day online.

The fact I'm going to tell you interrogative sentences only need one question mark.

And I will happily sing the Pokemon theme tune during lessons ^^

I play lots of videogames, have difficulty interacting socially, have an encyclopedic knowledge of star wars, and can tell you everything you need to know about zombie survival.
You summed me up in a sentence.

"Nerd (pronounced /ˈnɜrd/) is a term often bearing a derogatory connotation or stereotype, that refers to a person who passionately pursues intellectual activities, esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests rather than engaging in more social or popular activities. Therefore a nerd is often excluded from physical activity and considered a loner by peers or will tend to associate with like-minded people."

Straight from the Wiki. So in this case, yes. Yes I am. And most of you are as well.
^This, I reach for a reference almost immediately when encountered with a question.
plus my gamerness, rping, inner warehouse of useless trivia, good grades etc

I'm a member of a gaming forum, I love playing games, I study science, I know the ins and outs of the Fallout- and the Half-Life world, I'm obsessed about 20th century history and I prefer playing solos than chords on my guitar.

My gamerscore is about 24k and I'm ranked 200th on multiple songs on guitar hero

A few achievements that are kinda nerdy but I'm more of a light geek then a nerd
I have had a couple of girlfriends
I have had sex
I do have a good social life
I have never watched an episode of star trek or star gate
I have lots of other interests bar gaming and do sports

I suppose a good argument would be I have about 1600 posts
But I would say overall I don't think I'm a nerd

I have read 'The Zombie survival guide' and 'World War Z' three times. EACH.

Also I believe that the world would be a more interesting place if the solanum infection did occur. Then at least I wouldn't get bored.
Good on you, I have my plans written up and ready to go.
