I used to train in Aikido, but I've forgotten a lot of the stuff I learnt. I still know about 8 or so different movements, but that's about it.

Starting another year of boxing this fall. No, not kickboxing, boxing.

Also I've had about a year of Kenpo and roughly half a year of Jiu-Jitsu/Muay Thai training.

I was doing Muay thai for most of the year until my lacrosse season started, I plan to pick it up again once summer is over.

I am extensively trained in the ancient art of the frantic fist flail, coupled with the indispensable techniques known as 'harsh language', 'nasty face' and 'being kinda big-ish'.

I dunno if you would count wrestling as a form of self-defense or what you're asking for. But, I would say my 6-7 years of it definitely heightened my perception in self-defense and my knowledge of how to brutalize anyone who threatens my well being. :p

I do think I'd enjoy some self-defense arts though. With wrestling is less about self-defense and more about kicking your opponents ass. It got really boring after a while for me as I am not that naturally aggressive [I can say I did very well in it though]. Conditioning wasn't horrible other than a few times. But the fighting aspect I found could be very relaxing; now that I have been off of it for a year or so there are times I miss pushing my strength to the limit.

But advice-wise I can't say very much due to my inexperience in martial arts or boxing. I can say for boxing to pick your punches carefully. It is not always the amount of hurt you lay down, but where they get it. My dad watches a lot of mixed fighting and I know that you can go far with a well placed punch to the button or temple. =]

I used to go to Tae Qwan Do classes, but kicking wasn't really my thing. After a while I decided that I'd like to take Martial Arts classes again, and I've been learning the Shotokan style recently. The funny thing though is my mentor: he walks with sort of a limp and just looks like a middle aged man, but honestly, I've never seen someone who can punch so fast and so hard.

I've never actually been bullied physically, but I did take Karate for a year or so, which taught me enough to probably get the upper hand on a random mugger or whatever. That said, apart from occasionally sparring at Karate, I've never been in a hostile, physical fighting situation in real life.

I've been doing Lau Gar Kung-Fu for about a year and a half now.Its great fun and I'm getting better at sparring but I don't like doing grading and things like that cause I have a really bad memory and I find it hard to remember all the steps.

My self defense basically amounts to "kick em in the balls and run".
Not the best line of defense to live life through.

I personally really wanna learn kick boxing though. :I
I will watch this thread, as I am quite interested.
That's actually the worst defense plan ever. A person balls will shrink at the first sign of exercise because the blood is needed elsewhere, and adrenaline can go a long way in making that hurt less. Trust me, a kick to the balls is barely noticeable if someone is expecting it. Your best bet would be to find a weapon or run.

TaeKwonDo, Judo, Aikido and a degree of Kendo. Never been in a real fight, so I feel cheated.

Took 8 years of Kenpo, a year of Goju, dabbled in Brazillian Jui Jutsu, and just started Taekwondo. Yet every mofo I meet still thinks they can take me....

guess its one of the perks of being a short nerd.

let's see, I'm a grand master in Street Fighter, a black belt in King of Fighters, and I have a small dojo where I teach Tekken.

Oh, and I guess I have a purple belt in karate to.
