I love Progressive Rock. Bands such as Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis and King Crimson.

This is one of my favourite tracks:

Right now I'm big into the black keys, little black submarines to be specific, but I'm also into modest mouse and jack white. Also for some reason I'm listening to Lux Aeterna from Requiem for a Dream on an infinite loop, I just love that song.

I have been listening to a lot of Interpol, especially their Our love to admire and Antics albums. Here are a couple of favourites:

But I can listen to all of their albums without skipping a song, and I find all the songs I have mentioned here to be as catchy, I mean, the number of times I start singing their songs to myself at work are legion. Brilliant band.

Huge fan of almost everything along the electronic spectrum, progressive & post-rock, and instrumental music. Mostly if it's got a good sound and nobody ruining the music with annoying lyrics I'm all for it. Very few songwriters that I actually enjoy.

I listen to a lot of old shit, the velvet underground, grateful dead and the beatles. Then stuff like the pixies and punk, ramones, the clash. I havent heard a lot of music i like from recent times, with the possible exception some hip hop(jedi mind tricks, quite like a lot of jay z's stuff),the xx and animal collective, also heavy music like rage against the machine.

I think i prefer to wait for the test of time, instead of listening to everything on the radio untill i find that 1 song i like.

edit: oh yeah and folk music, johnny cash, leanord cohen, neil young that sort of thing

Technical/Melodic Death Metal, with touches of Black, Thrash, and Metalcore. Bands like Allegaeon, Spawn of Possession, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Carach Angren, System Divide, Soilwork, The Devil Wears Prada, and Arsis.

And very recently, i discovered i really like anime intro music. Like the intro to Higurashi, Steins Gate, the 3rd one from FMA: Brotherhood, and the first one from Soul Eater. Not sure how I feel about this, but whatever makes me happy i guess. If anyone could recommend anything, i would appreciate it.

Two Steps From Hell.

I've been listening to them obsessively for the last week or two. It's just amazingly inspirational music if you're trying to get something done. Beautiful stuff.

Edit: How could I have forgotten...
You forgot an additional one, O mighty listener to epicness:

As for me, I've been listening to remixes of games of old. Such as...

And...

That usually pre-occupies my musical needs.

Depends on the mood but usually it's either dance/techno or "epic" (two steps from hell, Mark Petrie, etc.)

I mostly listen to electronic stuff, with Madeon and TheFatRat being my go-to artists. The majority of my other songs are in the electronic house genre. Some of my favorites from my library are below;

I think my favorite genres would be jazz, eastern European folk music, and east Asian folk music, especially Chinese opera.

I have no access to YouTube right now, so I'll just inform you that I like progressive rock. Think Pink Floyd (and Dream Theater, I love Dream Theater), especially Dark Side of The Moon, The Wall, A Dramatic Turn of Events, and Black Clouds and Silver Linings.

Shoegaze, and Punk mostly.

However Shoegazing will always be my one stop for music, a great balance between heavy and calm, and the best bit is...that the bands are mostly all British, which is great with me being British and all.

Beware some insane face melting drone sounds ahead!

Almost anything to be honest.
Beirut, Aphex Twin, Devendra Banhart, KOAN Sound, Little Dragon, Foals, Porcupine Tree, Radiohead and Daft Punk are a few favourites.

Forgive me for my lapse in judgement. Archangel should never be excluded from a group of TSFH pieces.
All is forgiven, friend. To place so much epicness in one post is, indeed, difficult. "To err is human; to forgive, divine" as the old saying goes. Now then...

My favorite band is The Beatles but other than that, mostly classic rock with a little bit of metal thrown in, nothing too heavy though.
And I go absolutely NUTS for Metroid music, form the soundtrack to Metroid Metal, to the Harmony Of A Hunter Album I love the music just as much as I love the game.

The majority of my music falls into the rock and metal spectrums.

But I'll listen to anything, as long as it's good. I've got just about everything, from Watsky (hip hop) to Scissor Sisters (pop, nu-disco) to the Black Dahlia Murder (melodic death metal) to Lemon Demon (whatever you'd call this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjCyVfBiwpE]).

The single genre from which I've never found a single song I enjoy, though, is country. EDIT: Also mathcore and drone.

My go to is typically prog rock or things with a good harmony / strong melodic focus.
I'm drawn to a lot of classic work like a moth to flame, in that regard. Especially so being a guitarist that grew up in a house containing many great albums of old.

Electro/Synthwave/DnB might be a close second favorite of mine. Ironically, the third thing there is a "dance" track by a DnB artist but I still like it.

I listen to a bit of everything, really.
It ranges from classical (Beethoven and the like) to such things as dubstep, which I usually despise but find a few palatable tracks lying about here and there. I personally think it's bad to be exclusive to one genre or artist.
