Seconded. It's either screamo or rap. So what if you were poor and now you sold yourself out to get the bitches, bling and fast cars.Deathleaper said:Screamo.

What would you classify as 'Screamo' though? From people I've talked to they think of that as some ambiguous term that covers every band that has a screaming vocalist... sigh.Deathleaper said:Screamo. My god I thought I would at least hear one song of this genre I could enjoy, but FUCKING HELL, IT ALL SUCKS.
I'm sorry, man, I listened to the video you linked and I tried a couple of the others you mentioned in your post, and I hated all of it.WouldYouKindly said:For those who hate hip-hop and rap, fuck the mainstream bullshit. The mainstream is universally shit. The stuff you don't hear on the radio can be incredible.
I don't like most country either, but how about this one?bleachigo10 said:Country. I've listened to a lot of country music (not by choice) and I have not heard a single song that I like. I'm not that fond of Rap either but at least I like some of it.
I'd like to set you straight on this one, seeing as Blind Guardian has an entire]/i] album dedicated to J.R.R Tolkien's "The Silmarillion." They also have a song about Raistlin Majere, I could go on, but I'll pass.Jasper Jeffs said:All of the songs are about satin or some kind of suffering
i recon black veil brides have to be the worst offenders in that categoryShark Wrangler said:Little whiny bands that think they are making a statement, but are actually just annoying as hell to listen to. Of course I am talking about Emo, Screamo, Light Rock. Yeah I dated a girl for about 2 months who listened to nothing but Bullet for My Valentine. I wanted to blow my brians out just listening to that whiny garbage. Go off on rants on how they are changing the music industry, just wanted to falcon punch her in the face.
that's statement is backed up by nothing, and i have never heard a metal song about satin? there is also a big difference between a metal head and an emo fagJasper Jeffs said:Metal, it all sounds the same. On top of that, it's incredibly corny in both its lyricism and sound. All of the songs are about satin or some kind of suffering (oo, so deep) and the singer sounds like he's tryna drop a doose. I actually feel kinda bad for people who listen to it, but I guess I can't be too harsh; the vast majority of people who even listen to metal are pre-pubescent long-haired "emo" kids, I'm sure they'll grow out of it.
not all metal has screaming in it you know? in fact the majority doesn't have any screamingMatt Dellar said:Country

I'd add rap in there as well, but recently I've taken a liking to Limp Bizkit and some Japanese group.
Some elaboration:
Country: Twangy guitars, whiny violins, reinforcement of southern stereotypes as subject matter (angry dad shoots daughter's boyfriend, over-frequent divorce, general negativity). I find it hard to admit this, but I don't like hearing the southern accent in music. I don't mind it at all in standard speech, but the sound it makes just doesn't appeal to me in song. The New Zealand accent: heck yes, especially with female singers.
Pop: We have two pop stations locally. My workplace plays both of them. The modern pop-ish style doesn't sound good to me, and it seems that the quality of a singer's voice goes down as the popularity of their songs on said local stations go up. That song, Firework: I hear it about three times per day, working anywhere from six to eight hours every weekday. I hate it. The melody doesn't sit well with me, the repetition of the "ah--ah--ah" syllables is annoying, and I've never liked Katy Perry's voice to begin with.
Metal: I went through a stage when I was 14 where I loved metal and everything to do with it. My parents were disgusted with me, and now I see why. Ironically, I think that screaming in a song actually sounds good--IF IT'S DONE WITH EXTREME MODERATION. If the feel of the song is angry or aggressive, a buildup and a screamed note or verse--or even an entire stanza, can sound cool. I just don't like it when the entire song is screamed anymore.
I like a few given elements from each of the genres I hate--except country. From pop, I like the upbeat feel, and from metal, I like the instrumental bits. Symphonic metal and production music are my favorite genres in general, and they both have metal elements. Rock has some pop elements in it, and I like about 75% of rock songs. (Or does pop have rock elements?)
