Rap = No actual singing, disgraceful lyrics.

Classic country & new country = I hate southern accents & I hate that type of guitar.

Modern hip-hop = Reminds me how much better hip-hop was in the early 90s.

2000s pop = Pure ear poison, very little talent, mostly sexual pandering.

Religious = Seriously, few people can tolerate this, outside of Gregorian chants & Latin choirs.

Disco = Early techno sucked.

70s rock = No specific reason, I just hate it.

Modern jazz - Because it just ain't jazz without an upbeat sound & a horn.

Most Bollywood music = It completely depends on whether or not the woman singing can make my ears bleed.

Traditional asian music, especially from China = My Western ears weren't trained to deal with that.

Fact: High suicide rates correlate directly with places with more amounts of country music.
In which case, we should ban J-Pop.

I'll come out and say it. Johnny Cash's cover of 'Hurt' is better than the original, and I'm talking about a song which probably kept a lot of angsty teens of my generation from trying to kill themselves.

Incidentally, J-pop and K-Pop need to be banned outside of their respective countries.[footnote]Not literally, this is a joke[/footnote] The number of times I've met people who would otherwise have musical integrity who suddenly drop everything and try to pretend the most simplistic 'by the numbers' commercial pop music is good because it has 'kute asian bois' is fucking ridiculous.

As for emo/hardcore I'm sorry to point this out but every rock/metal band coming out now is using hardcore elements. What you're whining about is superficial crap not really related to the music at all. It's going to be one of those things like punk which ultimately fragment, but the style has influenced everything and it's not going to stop. Besides, seriously, beyond this ideological hatred, which reeks of the same kind of bullshit I got for being 'goth' in the 90s and early 2000s, (yeah, such a fucking 'goth' period that was) it's not all bad.

Pop, no question. It's arguably the worst genre right now. Of course, I do enjoy older pop like Michael Jackson and Simply Red, and one or two modern artists like Cee Lo Green and Adele. But for every good artist there are about ten bad ones; Ke$ha, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry to name a few.

Also Emo. I just can't stand to listen to those whiny lyrics and annoying as fuck vocals.

Pop music, too say its making death rattles is an understatement- recently heard that "Swagger jagger" song and got a bit morose when I realised that this is what a once great genre has been reduced to.

I mean I can name maybe 2 decent modern pop acts, if that.

All of the songs are about satin
As an avid metal fan, I've never once heard a metal song making really any form of reference to something satin. I mean, it's comfortable to wear but that doesn't make for good heavy lyrics.

But to be serious and on topic, I can't stand dubstep.
It's fucking horrible. How the hell can anyone call something like this music?

It's just a bunch of obnoxious industrial noises put through a synthesizer. That's just annoying to me. I know there are different tastes in music and there are plenty of people who despise the type of music I love but that... is just beyond me. Metal is one thing with loud, obnoxious sounds but this is like they purposefully thought up the most odious shit they could. There's no melody. No real semblance of any form of aesthetically pleasing song writing. It's just irritating noise to me.

Now, in terms of music like mainstream pop/hip hop... I tend to not even count it as legitimate music. It's just something to pander to as many people as possible and be as commercially friendly as it can be for as long as it can be until some other, prettier face comes along with equally annoying songs about teen relationships or whatever the fuck. It goes in and out of style very quickly and not even worth any attention.

This seems extremely harsh while reading before I post it but... eh. *shrugs and hits 'post'*
Quite ironic that a lot of dubstep is done by people who are in Metal Bands or who llike Metal. Personally i love dubstep, but i agree some of it is jsut noise. Try 'Doctor P-Big Boss' the best dubstep song by a country mile

OT- Metal, not all metal mind. Just the metal that is ALL screaming/roaring and you can't hear what they're saying with no attempt at a melody whatsoever. Yeah the guitar playing is impressive but i like music to sound nice, not be impressive (if it is impressive its just a bonus).

Current pop. Katy Perry is a particular issue in this regard but by no means the only one. This is mostly because I'm into metal more than anything.

Rap is my least favoruite.

It just seems so... effortless compared to other music genres.

I know it's flamebait to hate rap/hip-hop, too. But I don't much care for it, I'd say it's my least favourite genre.

There are exceptions within the genre I certainly stomach much better than others. But as a genre it certainly annoys me.

Some of the better artists in hip-hop by my taste would be things like Kick the Can Crew, Nujabes, E.Via, Beastie Boys, and Fettes Brot.

Generally the culture and sound of the entire genre annoys me. It's called a genre for a reason, there are cultural mores and standards to the genre that one may like or dislike. I personally dislike it.

I'm also personally not a fan of R&B or Newjack Swing.
