Classical, and maybe some trip-hop now and then.

At least until they are old enough to decide for themselves.

Here is an example of music I would have my kids listen to:
That is the kind of music I would raise my kids on.
Of course, there would be other songs.
But anyway, I shan't be having kids. Never!

I'll of course introduce them to my own musical library, but they're free to choose for themselves.

My music will, however, be playing in the background when the mommy's away.

Start the day off with some Beatles... then move into Led Zeppelin and finish it off with some Queen and The Who...

The Decemberists, on repeat, all the time.

Also, classical, opera, classic rock and jazz.

Pretty much anything from the 60's-80's like I was brought up on. I'd make them listen to Incubus and other good Alternative rock bands. And just because my kids will be in a house that speaks at least 3 languages (fiance is a language major, I am learning japanese and russian, she knows spanish, french, and german) I will have them into J-pop and J-rock as well as other good foreign bands.

Depends on the age, they will listen to what I think is appropriate for their age, when they reach high school they can choose for themselves.

I wouldn't really care what music, my kids listen to. Although If I did choose for them, then I would make them listen to indie rock and metal. They shall avoid all forms of rap and dance music, or so help me god I will disown them. (No I don't have kids yet.)

I'd like my kids to listen to the same music I do when I have some. I love my metal, all the way from glam to black (I probably wouldn't introduce them to the really heavy stuff till later on) but I'd also like them to listen to the stuff my dad played me - War Of The Worlds, Led Zeppelin, Isaiah Tomita, Pink Floyd, Yes, and also the stuff my mum played me, like Jethro Tull, and her love for Greek music.

I wouldn't like to tell my children there music is terrible, since I'm constantly fucking told the same thing. But it would be unavoidable for them to hear Heavy Metal with a bit of Classical mixed in. And I like to think they would be intelligent enough to realise that these two genres of music obtain a level of complexity and skill that is unrivaled.

I let them discover their own bands in the modern times and then when they slowly get tired of listening to it I will introduce the classics, that's what my Dad did with me. Oh and it will start with Black Sabbath.

The theory goes that your children will rebel by listening to the opposite sort of music that you like and make them listen to.

Using that theory, I'd make them listening to shitty heavy metal, emo, mainstream rock etc, so when they start rebeling they'll be listening to good music like me ;)

Well I won't make them listen to anything, but they're going to experience nothing but classical music from me in the car and when I'm at home playing on the piano or similar, so I hope my poor kids like it!

Actually, I lie. I'll use some pieces that Mozart wrote and other soothing pieces such as Haydn's Emperor String Quartet to try and lull the children to sleep when they're younger.
