I don't hate any particular instrument, just people (usually children) who, having finally managed to squawk out that most insanely difficult of pieces, "Three Blind Mice", think they're going to be the greatest thing to happen to music since John Coltrane picked up a saxophone.

Interestingly, most of the people I know who play instruments almost invariably think they're much better (or much worse) than they actually are.

The Banjo. It's a glorified ukelele.
T.T Am I the only person who thinks that the banjo is an epic instrument. Sure it's sounds tacky, but when it's played by someone who's skilled at it, it can sound amazing. And it's nothing like the ukelele (which is pretty awesome too(though somewhat confusing if you play guitar)).

Recorders.

Can you even be good at the recorder? Because you certainly can't play music with it. Or what most people call music
You can, actually. Like I said, it just has a terrible reputation now because of schools teaching to the 1st graders.
dam i had to wait till the 4th grade

i hated recorders ever since the 4th grade too lol

I hate the bagpipes.
I have yet to listen to a bagpipe artist who made me feel the true soul of the instrument.
That being said, I am open to eating my words.
I was made to feel the soul of a bagpipe once. [small]it was the soul of a dying kitten[/small]

electric guitars, they arent irrelevant i just hate those things taking all the attention away from the bass, when was the last time you heard a song give the bass a solo?
All the time in Jazz, Funk, Fusion, Prog, Blues, Latin and My Generation.

Also - The bass is a supporting Instrument, its main role is to make the other instruments sound a good as they can. That doesn't mean bass players can't have fun, while I play under people, there is a lot of stuff I can do, I am in no way limited by my role, I just know when I can and can't do crazy stuff.

I was going to post the triangle. Then I remembered this band [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j2crdbOFGE] and realized how very wrong I was. Literaly every instrument in existance has some kind of decent use in some kind of band.

I think any instrument and actually any object (see stomp and you'll no how) can be, if utilized correctly used to make amazing music

anyway I am referring to the cymbals which are used in orchestra and the like, normally involving just banging together and sliding next to each other (unsure of what it is called) I would class them as pretty easy to play even if you would disagree with me
In orchestral music you can use sticks and mallets to play cymbals, and sometimes it is fairly difficult.
It sounds it...
Seriously though, compared with a piano, harp, trumpet or violin it's not that difficult is it
No, I didn't say it was, I'm just trying to get it across that Auxiliary Percussion is often harder than people give it credit for. The only percussion parts that rank alongside the piano, harp and such is the Snare Drum. That instrument can be such a ***** sometimes, but done well it sounds amazing.
It's not the fact you did say it you were implying that it was a hard instrument to play which it isn't sure it may not be the hardest thing to play, tbh I never said it was hard to play in the first place, I just agreed that i found that the triangle was irrelevent and I said the Cymbals were also irrelevent to me.
Just because it's not hard to play doesn't mean it's easy to play with correct technique. Contrary to what most people think, just "banging" the cymbals together produces a horrible sound and may cause them to crack. Not to mention that cymbals both have sets of light and dark overtones which can greatly change the cymbals tone whether it's played on the face or the edge.

OT: I never understood why the oboe was so important. Hardly anyone plays it anymore, and yet most orchestral music requires an oboe solo. However, played well it sounds amazing. Other than that it nicely mimics a giant mosquito.

for me, it would be the bongos. They were over used in poetry cafes, and they never sound good or serious
Are you nuts?
Have you ever heard latin jazz?
I'll go find you some.

I totally appreciate that, but I consider those more of the hand drums like a djembe than I do for a bongo. When I imagine a bongo, I thin of the little drums stuck together than tuneless idiots play to make their piece sound deeper
