Simple enough. If you know anything about ancient mythology - be it to do with sagas, monsters or anything like that - then tell me which country or time's mythology you know best (e.g. Ancient Greek) and where you got the knowledge from, be it books, TV or games on the subject.

For me, I know a little bit of everything, including a few Dreamtime stories, but on the whole I'd say Japanese. And since I actually know some Japanese, I'm able to translate bits of the names without too much help, such as yuki-onna (literally, 'snow woman'.) I learned Japanese at school, but my knowledge of the mythology is, for the most part, tangential learning that started from Touhou or (more recently) Okami.

So that's what I know best. What about you guys?

I know a bit about Ancient Roman, Greek and Egyptian mostly. But it's only a passing interest and I don't know a great deal.

Ancient Greek, mostly from the Sierra game "Master of Olympus: Zeus" though then leading onto just interested internet browsing... Hardly a historian in the period but things gleaned out of interest from that. See? Games can be educational ;) Shame it was never a history period we did in school....

I probably know Greek mythology the best since I wrote a sequel to Midsummer Night's Dream with my friends a little while back

Japanese Mythology is a trip, however sadly it's rather small compared to others. Still, nothing quite as fun as Amaterasu getting a horse thrown at her. Yes, a horse. It's a long, weird story.

Norse mythology also earns a spot. Mostly for the sheer fun. I vaguely remember one story of Loki and Thor wanting something from the Frost Giants, but the Frost Giants would attack men on sight. So Loki has the BRILLIANT plan of dressing up like women to steal whatever it was. I'll let your imagination fill in the rest on that. Suffice it to say the first thing I still imagine of that is Thor yelling: "Loki! Fetch thine Mazda! We must cheese it back to Azgard! *starts running away wearing a a pink flowery sundress and waving his hammer in front of him*"

Greek Mythology gets points for being the most versatile and probably the most well-known. Good stories are just good stories.

Greek, Norse, and Roman because of Mythology class in High School, as well as 'Deities and Demigods'. Judeo-Christian because of Theology class and geographical location.

My interest is casual mostly. It tends to focus on Norse and Greek (and therefore by extension Roman) Mythology.

Sorted my personal knowledge:
1. Greek
2. Japanese
3. Norse
4. Celtic

and a bit of a few others. A substantial amount of that knowledge comes from reading every profile for the demons/personas in MegaTen games. Very educational.
Also, tangential learning and Touhou.

Greek Mythology is my pick, the Romans simply leeched off the greek and re-named their gods, stating that they're the descendants of Hercules, therefore everybody needs to eat shit.
Besides that, I know of Christian mythos and Jew Mythos pretty well, though I'm lacking in the Islam department, and I regret that.
Chinese mythology is rather nice when you try and look at it, I do enjoy my sessions of trying to mimic drunken fist kung fu... while being drunk with my friends.... and getting my ass kicked.

Mostly Greek since it's an essential subject down where I live, other than that, I studied some Norse out of interest. My interest came from World of Warcraft when I began playing around the Burning Crusade release. I didn't play that game for long, but the mythology surrounding it was at least interesting.

I learned a lot of my Greek mythology from Age of Mythology (the rest from Ancient Greek classes). Norse and Egyptian too. Sure games are educational.

Ancient Greek and Roman mythologies due to my classes in English in Grade 9 (oddly enough) and general interest in the topics.

Despite having to be tested on these topics at school, my knowledge of both mythologies is pitiful when compared to my knowledge of Warhammer, Star Wars, and Star Trek lore...but those don't count do they.

Mostly Greek (the Pantheon and all that...) from having rows upon rows of mythological encyclopaedias, anthologies of Greek myths and my old man.

I used to know a fair bit of Egyptian hokey from school, but it's slowly seeped out of my head.

Norse, Japanese and Chinese I know little bits of, but nowhere near as much as Greek.

Christianity, because I spent 5 years actively attending church and studied Christian apologetics for awhile after that.

I know most about Greek mythology, from some educational computer game I played when I was little and a couple of books on the battle of Troy (novels 'cos I'm probably not hardcore enough to sit through the Illiad).. and obviously though Wikipedia too.

Classical, mostly, with some Norse as well. I'm far from an expert, but I know more than the average person.
